Chantraine Dance Brighton

Five dancers from the UK Chantraine Dance School recently travelled to France’s Drôme Valley for a week of choreographic workshops with the Chantraine Dance School in France. A group of 50 dancers spent the week in workshops steeped in poetry and imagery from nature and the seasons as we explored choreographies set to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The week culminated in a performance for friends, family, and the people of Sainte-Croix and neighbouring villages, and we’ll be taking everything we learned forwards into the new year of dance as we prepare for a very special Chantraine Dance performance next June. 🍃🌻⛰️🌑

Join us for the Spring series of Chantraine Dance workshops in Brighton, suitable for adults of all ages and abilities.

🌱 Saturday 6 April 2-4pm - The Dance Space / South East Dance
🌱 Sunday 5 May 2-4pm Marina Studios
🌱 Saturday 1 June 2-4pm - The Dance Space

The three workshops will build on each other but you can also drop into individual sessions. There is a discounted rate for booking all three workshops together.

In these workshops you will learn the choreography ‘Why Not?’ from the Chantraine repertoire. Like all Chantraine classes, each workshop will encompass elements of rhythm, inner awareness, technique, creativity and choreography in a welcoming environment.

Originating in France, the Chantraine School of Dance includes elements from contemporary, ballet, jazz and folk styles, and incorporates principles of dance, yoga and pilates. It unites the artistic, educational and human dimensions of dance to support dancers of all abilities to understand and develop themselves in all aspects of movement.

In 2024 I will be running three courses consisting of three 2-hour workshops. It's also possible to attend the workshops as a one off.

The courses will offer a taste of Chantraine Dance where you will learn a different Françoise Chantraine choreography across three workshops. The choreography will change with each course.

Each 2-hour workshop is designed to be a one off class, but if you join the whole course (3 workshops) you will have a deeper experience of Chantraine and feel more confident dancing the chosen choreography by the end.
