This is a delicious bread with no eggs, so it’s easy to digest and vegan if you omit the honey and replace the ghee with coconut oil.

The quinoa – officially a seed, gives you some protein, which will make this a more filling bread than just a plain flour loaf.

Unfortunately, the processing of wheat means that the wheat used in commercial supermarket loaves are very difficult to digest.

While imbalanced s*x hormones can be directly linked to worsened symptoms, hormones such as cortisol, have also been found to further exacerbate IBS.

This may not only be caused by current stressors, but studies also link childhood trauma to a higher risk of developing IBS in later life.

From my experience treating many IBS patients for over a decade, a combination of food sensitivity, poor lifestyle choices, fear, emotional turmoil and stress are the main culprits.

In addition, for women, hormone imbalances, especially during pregnancy and menopause are huge contributors to some IBS symptoms, including bloating, diarrhoea, constipation and pain.

Imbalanced s*x hormones will also affect the speed of digestion, which may also lead many women to experience constipation during pregnancy, while menstruating and during menopause.
