Hove Garden Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a system of medicine which treats the individual with highly diluted substances which stimulate the body's innate ability to heal.
We are located in the beautiful city of Chichester, in the new academic building on the Bishop Otter Campus of Chichester University. We are a 10-minute walk from the centre of Chichester and a 22-minute walk from Chichester railway station. We are 5 minutes from the M27 turn-off.

Friday 25th of November is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and to mark this day I would like to highlight the work of a charitable community group close to my heart.
Homeopathy in the Sussex Community (HISC) works in in partnership with 4 local charities, Southdown Housing, RISE, Safe in Sussex and Survivors’ Network. Established in 2011, its main focus is domestic and sexual abuse, and mental health. The aim of HISC is to offer a low cost, or free, homeopathic service as part of an integrated approach to support survivors on the road to recovery. Without HISC many would not otherwise be able to afford access to holistic therapies.
In 2021 across all 4 projects, HISC offered 160 homeopathy clinics, which translates to 461 client appointments. Each clinic lasts around 3 hours, with an average of 2 – 3 clients seen during that time. The three professional homeopaths dedicated to these projects are registered, insured, and come with a huge amount of experience of working with vulnerable groups.
The geographic area of HISC’s work is primarily Brighton & Hove, though since 2017 the group has been working in partnership with registered charity Safe in Sussex, which offers help and support for people affected by domestic abuse in the West Sussex area, through the provision of refuges and outreach programmes.
HISC is funded by charitable grants and donations, and without this generosity would not exist. Raising funds to keep all 4 projects viable is an ongoing challenge, and so I would be grateful if you could consider making a donation to this worthy cause, on the day of Elimination of Violence Against Women, by scrolling to the bottom of the HISC webpage, and hitting the donate button.
Thank you very much.

The Shadow Pandemic Whilst global attentions continue to focus on Covid, another pandemic rages. Find out how HISC is shining a light on the Shadow Pandemic
The Rt. Hon Basil Bumm-Sniffington joined our family in 2013. He came to us from a rescue centre, with a big itchy and inflamed bald patch on his back, a gammy eye, and teeth covered in tartar from being fed a biscuit-based diet.
Homeopathy, herbs, and a biologically appropriate raw food diet restored him to health.
We consulted a holistic vet in East Hoathley, and here are some of the remedies used:
Eyes
I gave the homeopathic remedy Thuja (conjunctivitis after vaccination), and bathed Basil’s eyes twice daily with diluted Euphrasia herbal tincture, (red, swollen eyes with discharge). It took a few weeks but gradually his eye cleared up.
Teeth
Basil was put on a raw meat, raw bones, and raw vegetable diet and a couple of times a week I gave him raw chicken wings, not a strangely named homeopathic remedy, actual raw chicken wings! Dogs love gnawing on raw bones and it keeps their teeth and gums healthy. The gnawing action exercises the jaw, and the challenge of getting at the meat and marrow provides mental stimulation.
NB – You should never feed your dog cooked bones which may splinter and cause internal injury.
Skin
Basil’s itchy skin was making him so miserable, and he just couldn’t leave the bald patch on his back alone. I was advised to add a supplement to his diet called ‘The Missing Link’ which contains a blend of vitamins and minerals and includes Omega 3 and 6. A homeopathic remedy called Fagopyrum Esculentum was prescribed to treat Basil’s itchy skin, and I also bathed the bald patch daily with diluted Calendula tincture to soothe and promote healing. It didn’t take long for the bald patch to disappear.
Please note: in the UK only a vet or its owner may legally treat an animal with homeopathy. To find a homeopathic vet in your area, search for the ‘British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons (BAHVS).‘

Help for hay fever
The month of May heralds new growth, an explosion of colour and longer, warmer days. Shakespeare spoke fondly about the ‘darling buds of May, but many people dread this month, as it signals the start of weeks or even months of misery.
Here are a few suggestions about drug-free approaches for hay fever sufferers. In the short term, they could help to relieve symptoms, but to address the susceptibility to allergies you should consult a qualified homeopath for constitutional treatment.
*Wear wraparound sunglasses when you go out to avoid eye irritation
*If you can, shower and change when you get home
*Eat raw, unfiltered locally produced honey. There is anecdotal evidence that it helps reduce hay fever symptoms, based on the idea that eating tiny amounts of pollen in the honey, aids de-sensitised to the allergen.
*Nasal douching with a saline solution, using either a Netti pot or a plastic squeezy bottle may wash the pollen away and help reduce many symptoms. Netti pots can be bought online or in some health food stores, and nasal douching kits can be bought from most high street chemists.
*A little Vaseline around the edge of the inside of the nostrils may help trap pollen and prevent it from being inhaled
*Strengthen resistance with elderflower tea for some weeks before the pollen season starts
*Soothe itchy eyes with a chamomile compress. You can use a chamomile tea bag. Simply dunk it in hot water, when it’s cooled a little squeeze out the excess, put it over closed eyes, and relax.
*Eat plenty of fresh garlic to boost the immune system. Garlic also acts as an anti-catarrhal agent
*Vitamin C combined with bioflavonoids act as a natural anti-histamines to control symptoms
*Bach Rescue remedy may also help relieve acute symptoms
*Eye drops containing Euphrasia (also known as Eyebright) can help relieve sore and itching eyes.
*Take your holidays by the seaside where there is less pollen
*If you have a car make sure it is fitted with a pollen filter
*Close your windows in the late afternoon when the pollen count rises
