Lately, a few people have asked me about my work and if I can help them.

Here’s a tip for anyone thinking about outsourcing admin or other tasks:

Make a list of everything you need to do each month. Then, use different coloured highlighters to categorise your tasks. Choose one colour for the tasks you enjoy and are good at, another for the tasks you don’t love but still prefer to handle yourself. What’s left can give you an idea of what might be good to outsource.

This approach can help you organise your workload and focus on what you enjoy doing. Plus, it can also help you create a monthly planner with a clear task list and scheduled dates.

I create a planner each month and use it as my wallpaper on my monitor so I can check it each day to see what I need to get done for that week. There are great templates on Canva that make this process even easier and more visually appealing.

Last week at Thrive Biz Network at Goldney House Wellness Centre & Business Space we were asked a thought-provoking question during our one-minute round: "If you had £10K to spend on your business, what would you spend it on?" One of my clients shared that she would increase the hours she works with me, highlighting how I make her life easier and that she trusts me to handle her tasks to a high standard.

It was such a boost to hear her speak so enthusiastically about me, and as we went around the circle, it became clear that many members felt they would greatly benefit from VA support—specifically, from working with me.

We also had a fantastic guest speaker Lisa Gill who provided valuable tips on bookkeeping. In fact, it was such a useful talk that we all decided we'd benefit from more of Lisa's wisdom and we'll be planning a Workshop with her so watch this space!

After I shared a summarised list of Lisa top tips with everyone via WhatsApp, I received an outpouring of lovely messages. It's moments like these that make our network so special!

I stumbled upon a thought-provoking post recently that highlighted the following quote, "Growth happens when you start doing the things you're not qualified to do." While I appreciate the sentiment, I'd like to offer a different perspective.

In my experience, attempting to tackle everything alone can inadvertently restrict our potential. Instead, consider the power of outsourcing certain tasks. By delegating, we free ourselves to focus on what truly drives us—the areas where we excel and find genuine fulfilment.

Concentrating our efforts on what we do best, while leveraging the expertise of others where it makes sense can be a really powerful approach to enabling business growth.

I don't enjoy bigging myself up! I think that's part of the reason I do what I do, because it appeals to my nature of making a difference behind the scenes.

Anyway, luckily for me, my lovely client Neil at The Wyvern Institute of Psychotherapy & Counselling agreed to provide feedback and it's pretty good feedback too!

A huge part of being self-employed is learning how to manage your time effectively and efficiently to enable yourself to be able to take time off and achieve a lifestyle you want with minimal stress.

I was asked the other day what I’m most proud achieving during 2023.

The honest answer is that I am super proud of myself for maintaining boundaries and living out the lifestyle I aim to help my clients achieve.

I know I bang on about it all the time but keeping Fridays free of work is really important to me and I am so proud that I haven’t worked a single Friday throughout 2023! And managing my time effectively meant I didn’t turn on my laptop once over Christmas and instead had some restful time with my family.

I love it when my clients get that sense of peace that comes with knowing that things are being taken care of… by me! I’ve got their backs and I am handling the extra stuff that they never get round to or that they really need to do but can’t be bothered to!

Hello lovely people of Facebook! Today, I want to share a little bit about myself and the things that light up my world.

First and foremost, I love walking, yoga and time spent in the solace and beauty of green spaces. There is something truly rejuvenating about being immersed in nature and it is where I find my inspiration for creation and clarity in choosing the right direction.

I find immense joy in cooking. I love the challenge of creating something delicious and hearty from random leftover veg and tins at the back of the cupboard, coming up with solutions when the options seem limited!

Another passion of mine is singing! Music has always been a source of comfort and expression. It gives me courage and lifts my mood, making me feel ready to face whatever challenges come my way!

In my working week, I take care to make space for these passions and I find great satisfaction when I know the work that I do allows my clients to make time for themselves too. I have found my calling in enabling Business Owners to thrive and flourish. I am passionate about helping them to focus on the growth and success of their business or freeing up their time to do the things that bring them joy!

I’m back from a couple of weeks off, feeling refreshed and ready to go! Just before I left, I wrapped up some project work creating availability to take on a brand new client.

We all thrive when we’re doing work that aligns with our natural talents and brings us fulfilment. But let’s face it, there are always those tasks we tend to put on the back burner because they aren’t enjoyable or because the frustration that comes when trying to remember how to do those essential yet infrequent tasks leaves us overwhelmed and literally every other job seems more appealing!

Today would have been my dad’s 90th birthday and I hope you’ll forgive this indulgent post as I take a moment to reflect on the invaluable lessons this amazing man taught me.

Firstly, he taught me to love and appreciate nature. From our family walks on the Malvern hills to his passion for gardening and his paintings of wildlife and beautiful landscapes, he instilled in me a sense of awe and respect for the natural world.
The black and white image of the Kingfisher in this post, is his original pen and ink drawing that he designed as his own logo and the reason I named my business Kingfisher Business Support.

My dad chose a path that allowed him to prioritise his family and share his skills and talent. The example he set for me showed me that success is not solely measured by exams and professional achievements but by the people you impact and the mark you leave on the world.

He also taught me to find the funny side of life and not to lose my sense of fun, to take time to find joy in the simple things and appreciate the moments that bring a smile to my face.

Despite his sense of fun, he worked hard. He showed me the importance of dedication, resilience and perseverance.

Today, I’ll share a bar of Toblerone with my family and raise a glass of red wine as I remember him and the impact he made on all those whose paths he crossed.

Just a heads up that I won't be about over the next few weeks as I'm taking some much needed time off for some fun in the sun with my family! Any guesses on where we're going based on this pic?!

I'm so sad to miss the South Gloucestershire Show this weekend but very excited for some of my lovely friends from Thrive Biz Network at Goldney House Wellness Centre & Meeting Rooms who will be there! The lovely Goldney Girls will be hosting the Health and Well-being area where you can find out more about all that Goldney House has to offer.

There will also be the opportunity to talk Hypnotherapy with Caroline Smith Mclean Hypnotherapy & Mindset Coach, chat about Emotional Eating with Becky Clark and discuss all things Menopause and Women's Health with Sarah Wilsher.
