Purple IT Engineer Jack recently dealt with a set-up for a customer's Mac that had had multiple repairs from Apple but was still failing.

From the customer reporting the problem a few months ago, we have supported them along the way, from software support right through to hardware and advised how best to proceed with Apple. Jack and Alex's experience and knowledge of how the Apple repair process works was particularly beneficial in this case.

With our recommendation, a new 14" Macbook Pro was purchased and a complete data migration took place from the customer's old Mac to their new Macbook.

Recently, we took some time to set up a new Windows PC a customer had purchased, as their old one had insufficient RAM to operate quickly.

While we are Apple Accredited, we support both Mac and Windows workstations, as well as Linux and the majority of peripheral device manufacturers.

Our IT Engineers have learned to be proficient in dealing with these different operating systems, enabling us to help a broader range of clients - ensuring we can solve the issue being experienced, whatever the platform.

A Network Attached Storage (NAS) provides a centralised location on a network to store data. A Synology NAS goes beyond that, enabling you to build a private cloud to store, access, back up, and share files freely and securely.

For customers that use Synology, we regularly perform backup reviews. Sometimes, when checking them, we will notice the Synology can run out of space, or some files are not backing up for various reasons.

The clients are often unaware of this, so we proactively check and update our clients on any issues we find and remedy them before they become more problematic.

As part of the IT Support role, our Engineers often have to renew Apple Push certificates for customers, all done behind the scenes so as not to disrupt the client.

If certificates are not renewed, devices may experience syncing issues, and they cannot be appropriately managed from Mosyle, the Apple MDM we use for OS and app management.

Recently, IT Engineer at Purple, Alex, remotely resolved a printer issue for one of our clients.

They had purchased a ‘new’ printer but it turned out to be an older printer purchased as ‘new’. Due to the age, it came with a CD to install the software/drivers. The client was under the assumption they would have to purchase an external CD drive to install the software using the CD, and was unsure how to download the drivers online. The old printer had completely broken, and they desperately needed it working to print out some company documents that day.

After only 30 minutes of remotely logging into the client's PC to find and download the correct printer drivers and software, Alex ensured the client was up and running with their new printer and able to work smoothly again.

Recently, Project Manager Michael from Purple, went to a wedding and corporate hospitality venue in Chichester, West Sussex to install Starlink high-speed internet.

They have a 100/100Mbps leased line, which is mostly reliable, but up until recently, the venue used a Vodafone 4G LTE Modem for Internet Redundancy. Unfortunately with Vodafone recently upgrading the nearest mast to 5G, considerably hindering the range of the reception, it rendered the LTE backup useless with only 1 bar of signal. With the mast being too far to receive 5G or LTE, we had to look at alternative solutions. We presented these to the client, and they opted for Starlink Business.

We have had a great deal of success with a number of our clients utilising Starlink for both primary and redundant internet services. The client was very happy with this installation and that they now have a fully redundant connection which does not rely on the local infrastructure.

The Purple team have been busy recently remotely updating Sage on several of our client's machines.

Before the update, users were noticing frequent crashes and receiving duplicate search results.
