Start of the lovely citrus season as it gets cooler and the fruit gets punchier, starting with little treats like Italian leafy kumquats. Great for candying or a little snack for your gob. Mwah.

Amazing locally grown puntarelle from it is quite a rarity to see such a distinctive chicory typically only grown in Italy.

It can have a variety of uses, but typically the outer leaves are discarded, and the crunchy centre is put through a ‘Tagliapuntarelle’ which will strip the stems into matchsticks, this is then doused in ice water which will curl the stems, it is then served alla romana In a heavy anchovy dressing.

Absolute beauty’s in from this morning. Autumn at its finest. Harlequin squash, exceptionally sweet and packed full of nutrients. X

Castelfranco back on the menu this Friday. Queen of the Italian bitter leaf. Wide, round leaves are speckled with a gorgeous red that looks and tastes the business on the plate. A semi bitter taste with a hint of sweetness makes for a fantastic salad leaf as it’s slightly milder than other raddichio varieties.

Exceptionally crisp and juicy with rugged, rough skin. to eat. It’s no wonder they have such a die hard band of followers eager for them to land each year.

Winter Chanterelle looking GORGEOUS today. Delicate mushrooms with long hollow stems, a proper autumn/winter treat. Fantastic on bruschetta or gently cooked in a creamy, garlic and white wine sauce.
