The Clifton College Sailing Team has made it back to port after a week afloat on the Norfolk Broads ⛵️

The final evening involved reflecting upon the week’s achievements and rejoicing in the new cross-college friendships which have been formed - thanks everyone for a great trip!

A group of 12 pupils, from across both the Prep and Upper Schools are currently on a sailing trip where they have been sailing together on five traditional Norfolk Broads gaff rigged boats ⛵️

As well as developing their sailing knowledge they have been learning important life skills whilst cooking and living onboard in close quarters!

We are thrilled to be shortlisted as a finalist for the Innovation in Education Awards in the ‘Innovation in nutrition or food’ category 🍽️

We are consistently impressed by our in-house catering company and are proud that their hard work to produce a nutritious, balanced diet for all of our pupils and staff has been recognised 👏

We would like to extend another huge congratulations to all of our pupils that received their GCSE results yesterday 🎉

21% of GCSE grades were 9s and 54% were 9-7, with 31 different subjects offered.

With plenty of reason to celebrate, it was a joy to share their successes with friends, parents and teaching staff yesterday morning.

Huge congratulations to the parent-led equestrian team who raised the flag for Clifton College again this week with the 70cm Team winning at the British Showjumping Championships 🐎

The team was made up of Grace, Isla, Scarlett and Stanley - well done 👏

All the children rode amazingly, and a great day was had by all!

On Saturday 27th July, members of the Chellaram Foundation, along with contractors, architects and the Clifton College project team, gathered at the new Chellaram Sports Complex to mark the completion of the construction project.

During the event the new building was blessed by a priest in a traditional Hindu ceremony, a commemorative plaque was unveiled and guests were treated to a tour of the state of the art facilities.

The new sustainably designed complex boasts multiple courts for sports including netball, tennis, basketball and badminton, and has an indoor bouldering wall.

We are really excited about welcoming our pupils and local community to this wonderful new space when we hold our official opening celebration in September.

We offer a diverse variety of sports and activities across the school, which all offer our pupils the chance to develop new valuable skills as well as a sense of personal achievement.

In the last week of term, our annual Prep Summer Music Concert gave us a chance to hear and see our Year 8 leavers perform one more time in the Prep, together with our best musicians from years 6 and 7 🎶

The pupils each performed their own choice of piece as well as coming together to finish with an ensemble performance of the ‘Pink Panther’ theme song.

In the Summer Term, our Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning) held an amazing session of professional enrichment at our inaugural Clifton College TeachMeet 🧑‍🏫

It included a deeply informed and reflective set of presentations delivered by brave, humble, reflective practitioners from the Prep and Upper schools. Although all attendees were highly experienced teachers, nevertheless they continuously strive to develop.

Our teachers may teach different ages and subjects, but they are all learning specialists. And when teachers talk about learning, great things happen 🌟

We look forward to putting learnings from this session into practice in the new academic year!

We are very proud to be a part of the local Clifton, and wider Bristol community. Our school is located right in the heart of Bristol and we take pride in sharing our facilities with local schools and groups.

Access to the outdoors and green spaces is just one factor of our efforts to ensure the College is fit for purpose in a rapidly changing modern world. Sustainability and protection of those spaces is also a key focus.

Clifton college welcomed back the work experience programme for our Year 12 pupils during the summer term 💼

Pupils accessed a variety of placements across the UK, within industries including property and construction, engineering, film and TV, law, and healthcare amongst others.

We are delighted to have received positive feedback from all parties; with some pupils even continuing to access further placements over the summer break, as well as on return into Year 13.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the organisations who welcomed our pupils for a valuable and insightful placement, and of course to our wonderful careers department for making it all possible!

Our South American rugby tour had a great set of games in the Andes against Craighouse school before departing Chile for Buenos Aires, Argentina and their third set of games against the famous San Isidro Club 🏉

A win and a loss in two evenly matched games brought them some well earned rest time and sporting feast. They watched an amazing international rugby match between Argentina and France, visited La Boca And River Plate famous stadiums and areas.

They also had a very special evening standing with Argentine football supporters watching their country lift the Copa America football cup 🏆

A last day for souvenirs at the Sunday gaucho market and a last taste of the amazing Argentine BBQs before flying up to the Iguazu falls today and matches against the Brazilian national junior sides. The adventure continues!
