Hideaway's Young Explorers are back from September! For approx 18mths-5yrs, based in Henleaze, Horfield (The Ardagh) and Knowle on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Every Forest School session is themed and linked with the seasons. Often with a story to introduce our theme, a group activity, several linked activities, snacks cooked on the fire and songs.

You can now book Toddler Forest School sessions at Urban Escape in Knowle for the Summer term! Mondays, 9:30-11am for 18mths - 5yrs. Expect mud kitchen, digging, stories, songs, crafts, tool use, learning about nature and the seasons and a snack cooked on the fire each week. These 2 had an absolute whale of a time at this week’s Young Explorers! Splashing in muddy puddles, making daffodil pinwheels, scattering grass seed, wheelbarrow rides… loving life.

I’ve been v quiet on social media but just wanted to say a happy new year to you all. I’ve been quiet for a good reason - watch this space for BIG news! Hope you’re all still finding a way to get out and enjoy nature when you can, especially on those rare beautiful sunny days. This is myself and my family at Weston beach and walking at Tintern on the river wye.

And that’s a wrap! Adventures in Nature is now hibernating for a short while… you can still book bday parties and there will be some one off events in January and February. It will fully return in March.. a huge thanks to everyone who came along and got stuck in. These pictures are from the last year - it’s been awesome fun!

Last weekend we were making Christmas cards by doing potato prints using actual potato’s grown in the garden! Looking forward to doing more next Saturday too for the Christmas crafts and celebration event which is now sold out. Still spaces at the last Monday session for the year which will also be a bit of a Christmas celebration.

Autumn days… celebrating the final display of autumn whilst mourning their loss as we head towards winter. This time of year invokes many moments of awe and gratitude.

Every week I plan toddler Forest school sessions with activities, stories and songs. It’s actually really fun but recently realised I need to do more with my own son. So now we’re going into the woods to do just that! Here we are making leaf crowns and making toast in the fire. Great fun and bonding time as well as great practice for the toddler sessions @ Urban Escape 😀

Got to do some awesome training with Playwood Forest School with Tania learning how to make some great autumn and winter crafts, gained some new songs and stories and can’t wait to try them all out.

Toffee apples in the cob oven, making guy fawkes’ dolls out of sticks and clay and firework pictures. Busy morning!

New term starting next week. You can now book individual sessions. If you want to still get outside with your littles one and into nature but worried about the cold, this is a great place to come. With access to a cosy roundhouse and log burner that will be lit on those colder mornings!

This combines the best of forest school, community gardening and play groups to give your little ones (and you!) the best play and nature connection experience. We are lucky to have access to an incredible roundhouse space with log burner for those really cold and wet mornings so that you can still get outside but shelter when you need to.

Natural paints and apple printing onto paper plates this week! Amazing to see some little ones sitting and crafting for a long time - in the zone..

Last week the children cooked up a storm with their mud pie recipes (2 stones, a feather, several sticks and oodles of mud) and we celebrated the harvest season picking many beans, courgettes and even some squash!
