VESSEL TRACKING SYSTEM TO CONTROL OVER-FISHING

Yesterday was Day 1 was full of positive energy here in Bristol 💫

Favorite talk of the day: Can the Ocean be Healthier than we’ve Ever Known?

Overfishing is a major contributor to climate change and causes huge amounts of damage to marine habitats.

But given the right conditions, it can rewild surprisingly fast. Within just a year or two, in some cases, some marine reserves produce far more fish than the trawling industry loses in refraining from fishing the last stocks from them. 🐋🌍

One of the biggest ways to tackle overfishing? Technology. More importantly, how do we prevent deep sea fishing trawlers by passing this technology in the first place?

A subject matter close to our hearts. Thank you to the whole panel for an insightful talk. We have immediately added Rewilding the Sea: How to Save our Oceans by Charles Clover to our reading list.

Some of the most stressful and upsetting moments in our lives happen in the hospital. We designed and delivered a product for the NHS that improves patient experience and helps reduce stress by being easy to use, clean and maintain.

Delivering an impactful product doesn't have to be flashy or in your face. In this case, it was the opposite. The goal was for the Ocura to blend into its environment effortlessly, like the pocket of your trousers; It's always there and useful, but it's not why you wear trousers. The Ocura is the perfect pocket for a hospital environment.

"As much as we all love sending it off a steep snow bank and shooting down the mountains, we are aware of the dangers that come with it. Looking into some of the more severe injuries skiers face, we think of our spine, sternum and shoulders. A quick look at the market reveals a lack of unisex or female-silhouetted garments for protection and comfort, so this became the core focus for this design challenge." - @ Corín
