This one’s going to be epic… I’ve always wanted to go to the Westfjords of Iceland since I first visited the island. Well, in two weeks I’ll be leading a small team on a 6 day self sufficient trek around the Hornstrandir Pensinsula… Icelands’ most remote and most northern region. We fly to Reykjavik before catching a domestic flight up to the Fjordland town of Isafjordur, ready to catch a boat across to Hornstrandir in the morning. After 6 days in the Westfjords we’ll transfer back for a team night out in downtown Reykjavik and a much needed night in a bed!

🚴🛶🥾TY HAFAN BIKE BOAT BOOT ⭐️⭐️ It’s hard to put into words the incredible experience that running this challenge was. 9 dads | 4 days | 200 miles from the North to South Coast of Wales via as much off road as possible! All raising money for the wonderful hospice which is now at well over £60,000!
I met the awesome whilst running an event for Cancer Research Wales. He told me about how he’d recently lost his son, Greg who was cared for by the hospice, and his community of legend dads who had also been affected by the loss of a child or are currently caring for a child that has a severe long term illness. He told me about how they’d all started getting together to go biking and hiking and before long they started forming savage challenges to do, to raise money for the hospice that has supported their families so much! From this came the 200 mile mountain biking, hiking and kayaking challenge…. The Bike Boat Boot!
We spent four days covering some insane terrain, “knees to chesting” through bogs on foot, battling head winds in kayaks, and “hike a bike’ing” over the rugged Elan Valley!
I can’t begin to tell you how hard these guys grafted, how damn good the banter was, and how the guys never faltered… never once! What an absolute bunch of legends. We finished the challenge at the beautifully peaceful gardens of Ty Hafan hospice where there lay a circle of pebbles, each inscribed with the name of a child that has received end of life care at the hospice (pictured in the first photo).
I took so much from this event… a group of new mates, an achy face from all the laughing, and most importantly so much gratitude and appreciation for my own daughter….however much she keeps me up at night! After hearing these guys harrowing stories and how well they deal with it, I’ll never take her for granted….
To all the Ty Hafan dads and everyone involved, as well as all the families supported by Ty Hafan Hospice, you’re all absolute bloody legends and thank you so much for an incredible experience! Xx
Huge thanks to my team for grafting hard!

A spectacular finish to the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge the very early hours of this morning! Pen y Fan treated us to a spectacular display of starts and not a breath of wind after a long day hiking up Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon and Cadair Idris! Fantastic effort by everyone especially Kate who only 6 months ago finished a tough period of chemotherapy.

This morning's battle to tie down the greenhouse and stop it going airborne was definitely a reminder that winter ain't over yet! Fortunately, along with the storm came another afternoon of good conditions at some sheltered spots around the coast! Winter is a fantastic time of year with the right kit and the right mindset for a little bit of suffering! 🤙🏻

Well, that was a very special few days dusting off the axes and exploring the local ice that Snowdonia had to offer during this super cold snap of weather! It looks like its going to get wild and wet for a while now but quality ice routes under bluebird skies here in Wales is something I won't be forgetting anytime soon! All topped off with a fantastic win against Scotland, yeeww!!!
Cheers for the photos 🤙🏻

Great to get some fantastic Welsh winter ice action today in the hills. A not so enjoyable bike ride to start the day, and a bloody lovely bike ride back down the pass to finish! Bluebird weather and not a breath of wind too 👌🏼
