La dolce vita, Cotswolds style💭

Owned by Italian siblings, this peaceful escape is an ode to an Italian countryside cottage. Tucked down a quiet lane, the rambling garden has picture-perfect views over the green fields beyond, and the home’s interiors ooze rustic chic.

What, we ask could be more sublime than a stay at this 1800s cottage near Land's End in Cornwall, with expertly curated interiors and entrancing sea views?

It was a spark of synchronicity that drew the owner of this whimsical cottage here, to the wild coast of West Cornwall, whose landscapes have been compared to California’s Big Sur and Mallorca.

And in the 5 years since, she has converted it into a super-special hideaway where lasting memories with friends and family can be made in a world of sea and sky, wind and waves. Nature-lovers, water people, artists and creators; this is not one to be missed.

Injecting some vitamin sea into your feed this Blue Monday 💙 It’s the perfect day to reflect on all the beautiful blue bodies of water that envelope and run through our island nation and we’re feeling very grateful to be surrounded by so many incredible watery sceneries like these. Where’s your favourite patch of blue?

✨Brand new ✨

This gloriously wonky, Grade II-listed townhouse is an interior lover’s dream. The original timber frame and creaky wooden floors, exposed brickwork and Georgian sash windows with views of Landgate Arch feel like they hold centuries of stories, some told in the antique furniture sourced at local auctions. But the clever juxtaposition with mid-century modern interiors means comfort is the top priority — super comfortable beds, rolltop baths and rainfall showers.

We can’t get enough of the stunning art throughout, and all the unique vintage finds: comb-backed dining chairs, a beautiful fluted Belfast sink, and those fringed velvet armchairs in mustard yellow 🤌🤌🤌

A bucket-list trip to a secret Scottish island…

"We were lucky to experience this secret Scottish island in wall-to-wall spring sunshine. The wild scenery was incredible, including a white-sand beach we had all to ourselves. I swam from the jetty every day (freezing, utterly invigorating), and we climbed the highest mountain on the island for absolutely epic panoramic views." Liz, Kip co-founder

Envelop yourself in nature at this totally unique retreat for 8, tucked away amongst trees just a short hop from the Kent coast.

Dreamt up by an architect, the floor-to-ceiling windows blur the boundaries between inside and out, further echoed in gorgeous interiors -- all earthy colours and natural textures. Light filters softly through the leaves and the overall effect is one of pure peace 🌿

A design haven in the centre of Bath, oozing warmth and character, and a cleverly contrast of hip and heritage. Gorgeous muted walls, bespoke artwork, a rough-hewn bench and artfully dishevelled linen. The owner wanted it to feel ‘like the home of a well-travelled curator’. And it really does.

An insider guide to Whitstable 🦪
📷

Cute beach huts, oyster shacks, seafront pubs and a thriving high street - this month we caught up with our Whitstable hideaway owners for the inside scoop on how to make the most of a seaside jaunt...

🐚1:
"If you want to swerve the hustle and bustle of Whitstable, visit during the winter months when the fires are lit in the cosy pubs and it is easier to book a table at one of the many amazing restaurants"

🐚2:
"Catch a pint at the Old Neptune (the Neppy) pub after a long day's play on the beach. Whitstable is on the east coast, but the beach is west-facing, so the view at sunset is beautiful."

🐚3:
"Hire a beach hut on the wilder West Beach, where you can spend the day swimming and kayaking, then roast marshmallows over the firepit as the sun sets"

🐚4:
"(I'm giving away a local gem here that I don't think the usual tourists know about!) Thursday night Supper Club at Dave Brown's Deli. Very small place, amazing food, books out quickly and you can only book via Instagram "

🐚5:
"For a real treat, make a booking (well in advance) at the Sportsman, a gastropub with a Michelin star. We like to walk along the beach to get there (it takes just over an hour) and then get a cab home after a long, lazy lunch."

The Glamping Edition: forget carting around tent poles and waking up freezing on a half-deflated airbed. We’ve rounded up our favourite treehouses, pods, yurts, cabins, boats and buses with proper beds, kitchens, wood-burners, even alfresco baths and hot tubs! Which means you can pack the important things for a relaxing minibreak rather than instant porridge and loo roll.

And whatever the weather you'll be happy.

“Ever watched Moonrise Kingdom and wanted to stay in a real life Wes Anderson film? Well this is it.

For our final two nights in Devon, we checked into a tiny cabin in the middle of an impressive 300-acre rewilding project. The tastefully stylised interiors are by (no tat here - the bedroom curtains are Ralph Lauren) and the views are green, green and more green.
Yesterday I fed their 'pet' stag a digestive biscuit and despite my hilarious timing of arriving on flying ant day (we couldn't even go outside), we're already desperate to come back again in winter.“

Sandwiched between 2 lochs just inland from the dune-fringed Atlantic coast, this 19thC schoolhouse is as striking as the landscape that surrounds it. Filled with repurposed finds and mid-century pieces, there are gentle nods to the building’s scholastic past — the stainless steel kitchen, polished concrete floors, a library containing a thousand books — whilst velvet sofas, a rolltop bath and beds dressed in linen keep the mood seriously luxe.

We’re booking in for our own version of summer camp at this utterly unique studio-for-2 on a peninsula overlooking mountains and a glassy loch.

Left derelict, it once supported the local community as industrial practises boomed in the Highlands and the current owners have now totally revamped it with all of their blood, sweat, tears and love poured into every corner of the building.

📍 The Modernist, Scotland

Photos from Kip.'s post 22/07/2023

Backed by 8 acres of oak trees, and nearly 100 years old, this unique larch cabin is an exquisite curation of old and new. Bespoke hardwood and brass furniture, vintage plant stands and a gentlemen’s washstand reference its history, whilst vintage kitchenalia, hand-thrown ceramics and original artworks celebrate its modern owner, a foodie writer and artist, who paints the surrounding landscape and lives in the traditional longhouse at the other end of the garden.

✨Brand new✨ Arriving on the wild western shores of Ireland is like landing on another planet. Tempestuous blue Atlantic surf bashes the lunar landscape of The Burren – a rocky carpet of limestone riddled with caves and etched with native flowers – and fable and folklore abound.

With such untameable beauty, this is a place to just stop and be. At the heart of the national park is a glorious rewilded nature sanctuary, home to a modular cabin that’s completely in harmony with its surroundings.
Off-grid, the charred-wood exterior was built from sustainable wood, the circular eco design uses filtered rainwater and its owner plants a tree for every booking.
