On Thursday 23rd March 2023 at 11:00 I will be giving a Presentation in the Accessibility and Care Theatre. The title of my talk is : 'Occupational Therapy and Interior Design - The Perfect Marriage'. I will explain and illustrate how, by adding Interior Design and involving clients in choosing decor, it is possible to provide non-clinical housing adaptations that not only enable safe independence but enhance client empowerment and wellbeing. I also hope to inspire Occupational Therapists to add Interior Design to their skillsets so that their own clients can achieve and enjoy 21st century aspirational living.
Please come along - it will be great to meet you!

I am delighted and honoured that the organiser – the amazingly wonderful Stuart Barrow- has asked me to be a Presenter at this prestigious event and to speak on the topic:
‘How to make Bathrooms Look Great!’. I am passionate in my belief that bathrooms should not only be accessible but also enable everyone to enjoy a pampered bathing experience. This is an exciting opportunity for me to share my knowledge, and by using project examples and sharing some Interior Design tips and tricks, show how this may be achieved.

Really excited, all packed up now in readiness for travelling to OTAC Exeter tomorrow. Despite a VERY early start and long journey for me, Presenting and Exhibiting at this event will be well worth the effort.
Looking forward to catching up with Suppliers and Occupational Therapist friends, making new contacts, and showing how it is possible to make adaptations beautiful and functional.
Hoping my Presentation will inspire others to follow me – mustn’t forget my soap box!
Delighted and honoured to be asked ,by the amazing Stuart Barrow , to give a Presentation at the forthcoming OTAC Exhibition being held on Wednesday 9th February 2022 at Exeter Racecourse.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DESIGNATE!
Lockdown restrictions are finally lifting, and tomorrow will be an exciting day for Partners in Property members. This all -day event, featuring some excellent speakers and great networking, will be our first opportunity to meet in person and I will be there flying the flag for Accessible Housing!
‘Accessible Homes’- WHO DO YOU THINK THESE ARE FOR ?
When I ask this question, people generally answer:
“Wheelchair users or elderly people”
Whilst this is true there is also a much wider group of people who would benefit from these- in fact, everyone! This probably surprises you but just think about it for a moment. What about young people?
Accessible homes should incorporate ‘Lifetime Homes Standards ’ and have level or ramped access and wider doorways, making them ideal for:
Heavily pregnant mums to be.
Mums carrying babies or toddlers.
Mums having to lift prams and pushchairs up steps and though narrow doorways.
Did you know that a pram takes up the same or similar space as a wheelchair?
I am interested in your thoughts and views on accessible homes and housing so please contact me:

There is no doubt that beautiful accessories compliment a room, and to illustrate this I am including a picture of the latest additions to my lounge. Just prior to Christmas, I treated myself to a pair of glass lamp bases. I specifically wanted rectangular lampshades for these but could not find any that I liked on the internet. So, I contacted my friend Caroline Gibbs - owner of Swallowcliffe Interiors - who makes beautiful soft furnishings. Her workmanship is of the highest quality and I have used her services in one of my large-scale client projects. I visited her studio where I received expert advice and was able to select both material and pattern of my choice. The bespoke lampshades were made within three weeks and I am truly delighted with them. Never be afraid of 'going bespoke' - the investment is really worthwhile and compared to the high street not as expensive as you may think!
