Annual Dedication Service of the Torbay Lifeboats, Sunday 18th August at 6.30pm, Brixham Inner Harbour:

Traditionally we hold a short Service on the Quay in Brixham to give thanks to the Crews who have served on our Lifeboats over the past year and to wish them God speed in safety for the year to come.

The High Tide tables dictate the date/time of the Service so that the All Weather “Severn” Class boat can come across the Harbour and moor on the Quay opposite the shops.

The Service is a simple one with some maritime-related hymns accompanied by the Brixham Town Band, one of our local Shanty Bands give us a few renditions and there are a couple of lifeboat related readings/poems read by our local civic dignitaries.

It is just one of the ways in which we, the public can say “Thank You” for being there for the people and especially, seafarers around Torbay.

The Service is led by the Devon Area Officer of the Fishermen’s Mission, Helen Lovell-Smith.

This year the Service takes place on Sunday evening 18 August @ 6.30pm.
