Back to school shopping is such a big task, logistically and emotionally. Not just making sure your kids have all the uniform and assorted kit they need but readying them (and ourselves as parents) to the return to routine, and transition to new schools or classes, different teachers, extra clubs and new expectations.

Expect some big feelings as we squeeze the last drops of fun out of the summer holidays. Now is a good time to start gently talking about the return to school, what’s expected and how we can work together as a family to achieve those goals. Try to discuss the fun aspects of school, ask them what they’d like to achieve before they go back and remind them there’ll be a half term in six weeks. If they’re reluctant returners try and set small manageable goals for every week that passes.

We welcome back Deborah from who kindly supplies all equipment and will lead the safety briefing. Together we will collect as much rubbish as possible on and around Viking Bay for 30 minutes before taking a short walk back to to enjoy a healthy snack and share a story or two with Sophie that echoes the importance of keeping our beaches and oceans clean.

Next Monday, 19 August, we will once again be hosting wonderful local children’s author for a fun-filled Storytime and Drawalong!

John will read the very funny and heart-warming tale of Tom, a little boy who lives by the sea and takes his pirate spotting duties very seriously indeed!

This is a free and relaxed event best suited for ages 3-8 due to the craft element, but all ages are welcome. For more details and to book a free place for every child attending (adults don’t need a ticket) visit the .

We are beyond excited to announce that this weekend, will be hosting at our little store by the sea on sunny Sunday 28 July from 11:00-15:00 ☀️

If you haven’t tried rolled ice-cream before, then this pop-up is one not to be missed!
Just choose from a selection of irresistible flavours and toppings including Kinder Bueno, Nutella, Oreo, After Eight, cherry Bakewell and fresh strawberries and watch as Jenny works her magic and a handmade, personalised ice-cream appears before your eyes. The hardest part will be choosing which flavour to try first!

We know exactly what that’s like! Happily, Hayley .stitchy is as lovely as she is talented and has kindly extended the deadline to Thursday 6 June for anyone who still would like to order. Just get your pics and scribbles over to us by 4pm that day and Hayley will be able to work her magic.

We are excited to announce our first family-friendly beach clean in partnership with Broadstairs Town Team during the May half term✌️

Join us at The Lookout on Viking Bay, Broadstairs this Friday 31 May at 09:30 and show our little ones how we can make a difference to our environment and empower them to protect Mother Nature. The beach clean will last around 30 minutes before we take a short walk back to Kinder Collective to enjoy a healthy snack and share a story that echoes the importance of keeping our beaches and seas clean.

All equipment will be provided for children; gloves, hi-vis and litter pickers, but we ask that you make sure they are wearing weather and beach appropriate clothing. We have hand washing and toilet facilities at the store.

Founded by Anna Smit and Bliss Staple-Knaggs, two mothers with experience in the fashion industry. Koter means ‘little kid’ in Dutch and as mothers with little ones ourselves, we are so honoured to have launched their 001 collection within our family store by the sea. We fell in love with the brand and their values; producing consciously and with a circular economy in mind is at the core of what they do.

Easter is almost upon us so we wanted to let you know that we’ll be open throughout the Easter weekend, with a slightly shorter day on bank holiday Monday so that we can enjoy some family time with our own little bunnies.

We’ve just announced two free Storytime sessions at our Broadstairs store this Easter holiday and would love to see you there.

Thursday 4 April: Sophie Jones from Tide & Seek Beach School will read two of her favourite stories that celebrate the joy of spring and nature.

Tuesday 9 April: Local author John Condon will read his book The Bear Tracker and lead a simple craft. Children ages 3-8 will get the most out of this session, but younger and older siblings are welcome to attend as well.

Both events are relaxed, floor seated and start at 10am.
