I know what you're thinking. What do the Red and Blue lights on the ceiling mean ? It means that all students are 100% safe when coming to their lessons as the student booth is being disinfected with a Germicidal UVC Bulb in between classes. Used in hospitals and dental surgeries it is a tried and tested method of sanitizing rooms and also removes any odours. Helpful if the previous student smelled of strong perfume or something else ! And the grey button on the desk, well that's the release for the door so there is no need for me to enter the booth either as I just buzz-in the student when they arrive. Yes, the studio is back open for human to human lessons again in Bromsgrove. Improve your level on guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin or ukulele in a safe environment. With the advantage of being able to jam with the teacher, record and rehearse to backing tracks. It's much better than over the internet and equally as safe. So tonight we are heading down that old Nashville Numbers route so you can follow a chord chart and play in any key ! Used all the time in Bluegrass, Jazz, Blues etc. Sounds impossible ? When things start returning to normal and one to one music tuition can resume, there will doubtlessly be some anticipation in being in close quarters with a tutor, let alone a musician ! With this in mind, the Bromsgrove studio has been refitted to enable safe learning and teaching. The studio has been divided into a control room and booth by installing a glass wall and doors. With microphones and speakers each side we can hear and see each other clearly allowing backing and rhythm tracks to still be used in the learning process along with recording and "jamming". The booth is also fitted with a certified UVC Germicidal light that disinfect the surfaces and the air in between each student. A fantastically efficient and effective room sterilizing procedure that has been used in hospitals, laboratories and dentists for many years. Infinitely safer than just wearing a mask.
I'm sure things will ease over time but until they do, "the show must go on"!
Online virtual lessons are still available on Zoom, Skype or Teams as usual.
Hope you are all well and don't forget every Friday at 8.30pm there is the Wuzikmuzik Zoom Music Theory Evening which is free for all to attend. A relaxed and fun atmosphere where you can meet and make friends and includes games, chat and quizzes all based around music theory.
