Really nice to see that a couple of tracks from recent albums are included in this excellent radio show.

the Stillness and the Dancing - Dec 3rd The seasons begin to shift to ice and snow (though rain seems to be their initial siren call). Really nice review on De Subjectivisten; translated here from Dutch (via google translate)........"British Adrian Lane is not only a multi-instrumentalist and composer, he is also a painter and visual artist. This also means that his music is often picturesque, sketchy and appeals to the imagination. As he himself points out:

"I always start an album with a mood or atmosphere that I want to create, often something intangible that is hard to put into words, but I can imagine it. This leads me to a sound palette that I choose to use for the album and a certain way of working. [...] The key to the album's sound was a 45-year-old synthesizer, 100-year-old piano, and perhaps most importantly, an old mini-cassette dictaphone."

With the gritty quality of the recordings, consisting of a variety of analog and digital sounds, he has continued to work arranging his music and supplementing it with virtual, other instruments. As is often the case, his music is somewhere between piano-driven neoclassical with ambient, drones, folk and all kinds of experiments. The melancholy is also fully present again, despite the various major sounds that he mixes through. It does make it sparkle like splashing water. Think of Library Tapes, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Dustin O'Halloran, Glacis and William Ryan Fritch. Unparalleled opulence again!"

the Stillness and the Dancing - 8 Year Anniversary - Sept 27th A strange way to celebrate. SUMMER'S END (Ambient Guest Mix)

I was honoured to do an ambient guest mix for the amazing Low Light Mixes radio show.

As the title suggests, this is an ambient guest mix to mark the end of the summer season, and the coming of autumn.
It’s a dreamy and eclectic selection of dark ambience, haunting drones, fuzzy electronica, cinematic modern classical, immersive sound art and ethereal soundscapes - bookended by the two songs that comprise my brand new EP - ‘The Outer Banks’.
‘The Outer Banks’ is out now on the label Frosti, and is available both digitally and on limited edition cassette tape.

Lovely review on De Subjectivisten in Netherlands. Here via google translate.....
With the album Distances, released on the tasteful Oscarson label, two beautiful neoclassical worlds come together, namely those of Glacis and Adrian Lane. Glacis is the project of Scottish pianist/composer Euan Alexander Millar-McMeeken, who can also be heard in the indie rock band The Kays Lavelle and the dark, experimental pop duo Graveyard Tapes (along with Matthew Collings). His music is often characterized by an extremely melancholy mix of ambient, piano music and neoclassical. This is also in line with the works of the British painter, visual artist and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Lane, who often makes piano-driven neoclassical with ambient, interspersed with drones, folk and all kinds of experiments. Once he played in art rock, noise and punk band Breakneck Static and is nowadays also part of the duo That Faint Light (with Guido Lusetti). He has already released about 10 albums, which, in addition to electronics, often works with violin, guitar, psaltery and sampled instruments to shape his melancholy creations. All this flows together on this new album, resulting in wonderfully melancholic and imaginative compositions. In 9 pieces of over 47 minutes long, they manage to grip you firmly with their truly paralyzing splendour. Lovers of both artists, but also those of resulting in wonderfully melancholic and imaginative compositions. Lovers of both artists, but also those of Richard Skelton, William Ryan Fritch, Library Tapes, From The Mouth Of The Sun and A Winged Victory For The Sullen can indulge themselves. What an incredibly beautiful masterpiece.
