📣 𝙎𝙋𝘼𝘾𝙀 - Week 2

🌱 Today’s focus used our geographical 🗺 skills and our scientific 🔬 skills to investigate the River Irwell and we lots of fun doing so!💧

🌱 We noted how the river levels can change rapidly depending on the weather 💦, we skimmed rocks 🪨, played on the tyre swing, had a paddle, did LOTS of litter picking 🗑 and even had time to play some teambuilding games 🤩🌿❤️

🌱 𝙎𝙋𝘼𝘾𝙀 is a 6-week programme for primary or secondary aged pupils designed to offer young people an opportunity to:
✅ meet new and be accepted by other young people
✅ work alongside child-centred adults who will investigate and explore their emotional wellbeing
✅ experience a calming learning environment and the benefits that come with being outdoors
✅ collaboratively complete enriching tasks to learn and develop new skills.

🍂 This morning saw our second adventure as part of the ‘Woodland Vibes’ series of Hike and Trail Run adventures. 🌳

🍂 Meeting by the Tilted Vase sculpture (locally known as ‘The Urn’, we took the wooded trails passing Tentering Tower.

📣 Zombie Hike 2024 - behind the scenes! 🧟‍♂️

🧟‍♀️ Here’s a few snaps from ‘behind the scenes’ of this weekend’s Zombie Hike - as you’ll see the ‘zombies’ had great fun before letting them lose onto the moor to feed on human flesh!

📣 Zombie Hike 2024 🧟‍♂️

🧟‍♀️We had an absolutely terrifyingly awesome time out on Holcombe Moor this weekend.

🧟 These Hikers set out for a pleasant evening stroll across the moors…
…but, what should have been a lovely evening, rapidly changed when they were repeatedly faced with herds of flesh-eating zombies! 😱

🧟‍♂️ Over and over again, throughout their 4 mile hike, our Hikers had terrifying encounters with the undead - their screams could be heard from right across the moor!

🧟 For many, it was too much and most subsequently lost their ‘lives’, but were still awarded a Sunnywood Snood for being brave enough to participate.

🧟‍♀️ Well done to everyone who joined us to explore the moors in darkness knowing that zombies roam freely there! 👏 👏 👏

📣 Toddler Trekking 🌿❤️

Today's theme was 'Light' 🕯🔥

We started with a song 🎵 about fire and flames 🔥 to warm us up then headed for a walk past the duck pond 🦆

Then we made our way back to The Hub 🌿❤️ where we made Diwali lamps 🪔, created swirling firework patterns 🎆, splashed in the water 💧 and explored lots of shiny objects ✨️ We even had time for a treat 🍪

🌳 Hidden deep within the woods are these mischievous Goblins - all designed by pupils at Chesham Primary Academy 😊

🌳 There’s five of these cheeky Goblins lurking within the woods - discover their names and their personalities then set out on your adventure to locate where they are hiding 😉

📣 𝙎𝙋𝘼𝘾𝙀 - Week 1.

🌱 This week was the first sessions of our 𝙎𝙋𝘼𝘾𝙀: a 6-week programme for primary or secondary aged pupils designed to offer young people an opportunity to:

🌱 After our icebreaker giant Jenga game, we explored and completed the Burrs History Trail; learning so much about the park and its past. We explored the mills, the old cottages, the Irwell Sculpture Trail and even found the site where an old Iron Age Fort once lay ⚒️🗡
Then, in the afternoon, we went pond dipping 🕷🪱🐌🐸 and took some time to feed the ducks 🦆

📣 Kindling Kids

Tonight we celebrated Halloween with a Spooky Special 👻🎃🧙🏻‍♀️🧟‍♂️

We started our adventure with a walk through the woods 🌳 where we stopped for a scary game of Hide & Seek 😱

Then we made our way back to The Hub 🌿❤️ and made some spooky tissue paper ghosts 👻 before creating some delicious no-bake Halloween treats 👻🎃🍪😋

Finally, we had fun outside playing some terrific pumpkin games 🎃🧹

📣 October Conquer the Wild: 👀👇
📍Mam Tor & Kinder Scout

🌱 This month’s Conquer the Wild headed over to the Peak District for an incredibly challenging route covering sections of the Edale Skykine and Pennine Way.

🌱 As always, the Runners and Hikers set out in opposite directions along the route, meeting a short time later for an awesome group photo in the glorious autumnal sunshine!
This was a roughly 11.5 mile Hike and Trail Run with just over 2200 of brutal ascent - but with amazing panoramic views. 🤩

🌱 Our monthly Conquer the Wild events take place on the last Saturday of the month.

📣 Family Trekking Adventures 🤩🌿❤️

What a beautiful morning for an adventure 🍂🌤🍃

We met at Burrs and warmed ourselves up with a song 🎵 before heading off for a little trundle along the river 🏞

Along the way, we saw so many beautiful autumnal treasures such as leaves 🍂, berries 🫐, snails 🐌, worms 🪱 and even a gentleman trying to catch some fish 🎣

We then stopped at the old mill and made some terrific toadstools 🍄 before heading off to feed the ducks 🦆
