After a difficult few months for many, I would like to introduce Candles in Memory 💛
Candles In Memory is a website offering a virtual memorial to those we have lost to Covid 19. You can purchase a candle and add a message which will then be added to the website.
Every month we will donate the money raised to a different charity that has supported those that have lost someone to Covid 19. 100% of the money raised will go to charity.
Our first charity is Cruse Bereavement Care
The purpose of this website is to offer a place where those left behind can light a candle in memory of their loved one and help those in their memory x x x
To buy a candle in memory and support Cruse Bereavement Care visit
Are you able to help these ladies thank you xx
If so are you open this morning please?
Thank you

All classes are cancelled today due to bank holiday
ALL CLASSES ARE CLOSED TOMORROW DUE TO WEATHER WARNING.
Red Weather Warning – Caerphilly County Borough Council
The Met Office has now issued a RED weather warning for parts of the county borough on Friday 18th February.
Storm Eunice may cause significant disruption due to extremely strong winds, so the council is urging everyone to take care over the next day or two.
The Met Office currently advises:
Flying debris resulting in danger to life
Damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
Uprooted trees are likely
Roads, bridges and railway lines closed, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights
Power cuts affecting other services, such as mobile phone coverage
Large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and homes, including flooding of some coastal properties
The council is working around the clock to prepare for any impacts arising from the storm.
Cllr Philippa Marsden, Leader of Caerphilly Council said, “It seems the next 24 hours are going to bring a number of challenges and I want to assure the whole community that we are prepared and ready to act. We are taking a ‘safety first’ approach to this emergency and our focus will be on protecting our people and place.
“Staff arrangements and resources are being strengthened to focus upon our emergency response.”
“I would urge everyone to take care, avoid any unnecessary journeys and keep an eye on vulnerable relatives or neighbours who may be affected by the adverse weather conditions.”
Standby arrangements are being strengthened to ensure appropriate levels of staff and resources are on hand to help keep the community safe.
Culverts and gullies are being cleared to provide enough capacity for additional rainfall.
Historic flooding black spots are being targeted and teams will be on hand to help if needed with sandbags and other support.
Teams from countryside services will be strengthened to deal with any emergencies caused by falling trees.
Refuse collections will be suspended on Friday 18th March, so residents are advised not to put their bins out. Further details will follow about catch-up arrangements.
Free School Meal deliveries will be suspended and any missed deliveries will be completed as soon as possible.
Leisure centres, libraries and other council buildings will be closed to the public.
All schools across the county borough will switch to remote learning arrangements on Friday.
Social care services will continue wherever possible, but there may be disruption due to impacts from the storm.
Residents can report or request a service online by visiting www.caerphilly.gov.uk. Alternatively, they can call 01443 815588 during office hours or 01443 875500 for emergency out of hours issues.

The community centre will be closed this monday the 30th August. We will be back open Tuesday.
To the 5 lovely youths that thought it was funny to go in to the community centre this evening and sq**rt washing liquid all over our kitchen and damage one of our males toilets. Thank you for showing us your beautiful faces we have them on our cameras and they have been handed to the police for them to deal with it.
Our volunteers have been down at the community centre this evening cleaning up your mess and waiting for emergency services to come out and repair the damage you have yet again caused in our males toilets. We do wonder why we do this voluntary for the community when we and the centre get given so much hassle and lack of respect. But the one thing we can thank you for is that we have got the cleanest community centre kitchen floor in south wales.

Just a little message to say a big THANK YOU to all of our volunteers.
You have been amazing in helping out at different events, food shares, etc. And we cannot wait to get you all back and do what we do best.
Thank you to our volunteers that are still continuing to do our £2 bags for the local community (which we are still giving free) at such a hard time.
Cannot wait to get you all back and do what we do.
Stay safe and we will see you all soon
We have had an anonymous donation which means we are able to continue the food bags to the local community until the 1st July 2020. We will then start charging week commencing 6th July 2020

Message from Gemma and Dan at The Basement Project in Blackwood!
Hi Everyone,
It’s Gemma and Dan and we are both youth workers for the Basement team which for those that may not know it, is the information, support and advocacy service for young people in Caerphilly. We both also work at Lansbury Park Youth Centre.
The Basement is also home to our dedicated LGBTQ+ group, , run by Dan and Hannah.
We know that we are all finding ourselves in a difficult and at times worrying situation at present and would like to let you all know that if you need any information, support or advocacy or have any concerns or questions please contact us.
Even though we are unable to provide you with face to face contact at the moment we are here to speak to whenever you may need to. Even if there isn’t anything specific, we would be more than happy to hear from you to see how you are doing or for a general chat and catch up.
You can call or text us on 07876 358034 Monday – Friday 12.00pm – 8.00pm or email at [email protected].

Happy easter everyone.
Try not to eat to much chocolate.
Wishing our Van Community centre' SANTA a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. # # #
We would like to say a BIG big thank you. Over the last few weeks, we have been giving bags of food to the local community and the NHS.
We would not have been able to do this if it wasn't for the likes of Elaine Forehead, Sheila Jones, Sheilas husband ( sorry we forgot his name), Jamie from Morgan Jones, our chair person make, and caretaker Cath.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
We have restricted a bulk of our volunteers, and committee members due to the global situation, but thanks to these lovely people we have still managed to provide to the local community free bags of food as they may have difficulty getting out due to self isolation.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you again. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.👏👏👏👏👏👏
We would like to as I a BIG thank you to our volunteers again. They have gone above and beyond and risked their selves and families to help others.
But can I just say they don't appreciate being upset by people in the community. They are going to people who they think will need it and giving these bags of food FREE. If people don't answer the door there is nothing they can do about it.
Thank you again for doing what you do and helping people that are in need.
Hi guys. We hope you are all staying safe. and hopefully this will be over soon.
We just wanted to update you regarding our £2 bags. We recieved our delivery this morning and sorted through it. We made up a few bags for a few elderly people within the community, we then made the decision to take the rest to the hospital.
Some of these doctors and nurses are work in 12 hour+ shifts a day, and by the time they finish their shift all the shops have been cleared with all these people stockpiling
So we made the decision to take it to the hospital so the nurses and doctors have at least got a meal to go home to. We did not charge anyone for these. This is why we do what we do to help the community.
We hope that all you guys are keeping safe and we will see you all soon.
Hope all you lovely mothers had a good day today, in what is a very strange time.
We have had a management committee meeting today, and have decided to protect ourselves and our local community, we have officially closed our doors. As soon as we are back up and running a post will be updated.
We hope you all stay safe and well and we will see you soon.
Just a quick reminder if you are coming to collect food tomorrow, can you please wash your hand on entry to the community centre.
Open again tomorrow- for everyone who enters you MUST wash your hands in the disabled toilet before collecting food. Thank you
Tuesday 17th .
approx £10 worth of food for £2
To keep yourselves safe and our selves safe. On arrival of the community centre could you please wash your hands in the disabled toilet.
End of day food that we ask for a small donation for will be up the same time but we will be pre packing this so will be given out the same time as the £2 bags.
£10 worth of food £2
End of day =donations
It has been decided with a heavy heart that for the next few days the food bank will be closed until we are clearer on how to move forward with the outbreak of COVID- 19.
Although this is something we hoped to never do- we feel it’s within the best interests of the community for now.
However , once we have other options available we will inform you ASAP so that this food isn’t wasted and that people are not left without.
We are committed to keeping you informed.
Thank you for your continual support and kindness- this is what community spirit is all about!
