As 2021 draws to a close, it's been a good time to reflect on the past year and the whirlwind it's been. Business has been non-stop since my first client started in Jan 2021...which is so much more than I ever could have hoped for in my first 12 months of working for myself.

So a huge thank you to all of the wonderful people I've worked with and who I've had the pleasure of calling my clients, and to the talented suppliers who have supported in delivering some exciting projects.

There already seems to be lots in the pipeline for 2022, so here's to a much needed rest over the festive season, ready to launch into the New Year with renewed vigor!

The Great Disconnect: Many More Employers Than Workers Want To Return To Offices 06/10/2021

👉 76% of employees want flexibility WHERE they work.
👉 93% want flexibility WHEN they work.

As someone who works for themselves, I'm now a permanent home worker. And i do sometimes miss having an office to go into, to connect with co-workers, throw ideas around and have some banter.

But would I want to return to an office full-time? Hell no.

How would I feel if my employer enforced a full-time return to the office? I'd potentially be looking elsewhere. 🤔

It's different for everyone of course, but this article just highlights the challenge facing many employers in how they manage this, and how they get it right!

Ultimately, talk to your workforce and adapt to the new ways people want to work, or face getting left behind.

An interesting article on the Guardian, as more than half of UK business managers believe it is their job to encourage employees to get a Covid-19 vaccination to make sure workplaces are safe for the return of employees.

A moral minefield and slightly contentious issue for sure, as we all look to the future and returning to work in our offices (even if it is only for a few days a week!).

Some very interesting stats from Bullhorn's 2021 GRID survey...despite women making up 65% of the recruitment industry worldwide, they only make up 35% of c-suite positions.

The survey also found that Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) professionals make up 27% of the workforce but just 14% of leadership among survey respondents.

So lots of work still to be done in the industry to gain true representation in leadership roles.

Given the number of studies that are continually showing firms with more women in leadership roles generally perform better and have higher profitability, it's an area any smart recruitment business owner should want to address.
