Meet the Team: Amal, Head KP at NOVI
Since joining us in March, Amal has been a powerhouse behind the scenes as our Head Kitchen Porter. But there’s more to his story—by day, he’s also studying to become a nurse!
Originally from India, Amal even has a past life as a wedding planner. Quite the journey, right? When it comes to food, his favorite dish on the menu is the Chicken Waffle—the perfect balance of sweet and savoury.
After a busy shift, you'll find him unwinding with his go-to staff drink: a classic Whisky Soda. 🥃

NOVI is an independently owned, modern, vibrant, sophisticated and welcoming bar and kitchen, set in a magnificent three storey building in the heart of buzzing Cambridge. Our focus is on providing casual, communal and sociable dining, serving colourful brunches and mouth watering BBQ dishes from our in house smoker, as well as an innovative menu of exceptional homemade botanical cocktails alongside tasty craft beers.
Our botanical cocktails are all designed and created by our passionate team of in-house mixologists, who not only bestow an original and ingenious title to each drink but also shake every creation to order using a variety of homemade ingredients. Every cocktail served at NOVI includes at least one hand crafted element, be it an aromatic, sweet syrup, a spicy tincture, a rich infusion or a fragrant shrub.
NOVI’s bustling and vibrant open kitchen is alive day and night, serving rainbow coloured brunches during the day and a scrumptious selection of smoked and chargrilled plates from lunch until late. Our talented chefs, with the help of our in house smoker, have created an imaginative menu of small and large plates, skewers and sliders, all designed to be mixed and matched and shared between friends.
Our charming and charismatic venue dates back to the 1930’s but in 2015 was renovated into a stylish, elegant, bright and contemporary space. Glistening gold topped bars, plush green velvet seating and opulent marble add a feel of luxury to other more rustic design features, such as the industrial bar stools and Danish-inspired, uncomplicated wooden chairs, and the result is a smart and refined but friendly and approachable destination.
