What’s your top goal for 2024?

Mine is to take time to get organised and avoid the overwhelm. It’s the only way those goals have any chance of success.

The slower pace over Christmas and New Year always renews my enthusiasm for getting organised and smashing all those tasks that seem to never get done. 💪🏻 So, you’ll be hearing very little from me for the next few months while I get my planning and goal setting head on in preparation for the year ahead.

I think it’s going to be a busy one so these quiet months are crucial for getting organised.

It’s time to hang up those flowery boots for the year and take a little time to be with the family. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Thanks to all who have supported, listened and cheered me on this year. I’m truly grateful to have you in my corner and can’t wait to see what next year will bring.

I hope Christmas brings you everything you need, whether that’s rest, peace, headspace or a big mug of mulled wine. 😜🍷

For the crafters.

Over the last few months I’ve been working on creating a range of easy to make crafting kits using gorgeous pressed flowers.

So if you fancy having a go at creating something with such a beautiful natural product, or have a crafting friend that would love a project, stay tuned for more details.

A gorgeous collection of prints and cards, carefully packaged and delivered to Cambridge.

This little bundle makes me smile so much. A combination of the very first of my pressed flower artworks and recent Stag creations. Can’t believe I did all of that. What a year it’s been. 😲🥰

Last night I made a carrot 🥕

Honest I’ve not lost the plot…..just yet.😵‍💫 I know it’s a weird thing to post about when I’m all about flowers but full disclosure, I had a rough day yesterday.

All those feelings of, ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’, ‘everyone else has it all sorted’…..bubbled around my head, and God it’s exhausting.🫨

But, as I was reminded yesterday by Kate .greendoorproject , they are just feelings, not facts…..and feelings pass.

So last night I spent a few hours crocheting and, as the frustration and fear eased, it reminded me just how much I love to craft. It brought into focus exactly why I decided to do the very thing that pushed me over the edge yesterday. Oh the irony!!🙄

I’ve been working on developing a few pressed flower crafting kits, hoping to have them available before Christmas, so I can help spread the joy of crafting to those that have forgotten how much they love it, or never had the confidence to try.

It takes a surprising amount of work to develop an idea and bring it all together. Something that’s very easily hidden by small businesses. So much so it tipped me over the edge yesterday, but they’re nearly there so just a final push and they’ll be ready. 👊🏻💪🏻

My very first art show!! 😝

3 of my arty pieces are being included in the East Kent Open House Show at The Wooden Box Gallery in Ramsgate. Get along and take a look. 👀

The show includes work by a number of artists, some who, like me, are new to the arty scene and would love some support.

The show runs from 6th-29th October at 92 High Street Ramsgate.

For L&W 💕

The mother of a beautiful bride carefully pressed a selection of flowers taken from her daughters wedding flowers and passed them to me to create an artwork as a gift for the newly weds.

To add to her gorgeous pressed petals, bluebells and euphorbia flowers, I incorporated additional elements to reflect the range of colours in the couples wedding flowers while adding meaning and connection to their artwork.

Among other personal connections I included the slim delicate petals of Helichrysum flowers. These wonderfully papery flowers are often known as ‘Everlasting flowers’, a fitting sentiment to signify the enduring nature of marriage.

Thanks to those who took my challenge yesterday to pick out the original vs print. That was a fun experiment. 😝

From 8 responders, 5 of you thought the first image was the original artwork.

The reveal? Image 1 is the print!!

5 of you also correctly guessed that the second image was the original artwork.

A fabulous exercise to demonstrate how lifelike giclée prints are.

Huge thanks to for offering such a fabulous service 🙏 and making my prints look amazing!!

My latest floral art prints are ready to buy on my website:

www.hummingbfloristry.co.uk/cardsandprints

They feature a range of my favourite textural foliages. The Nigella leaves in this print have been grown in my own cutting patch in Canterbury, pressed and then created into a delicate design with hand cut clean lines around the outer edge to contrast with their wild frond-like leaves.

I currently stock A4 sized Giclee prints of this design and 2 other complimenting foliage prints.

Giclee prints are high quality prints used by the art world to capture the true likeness of the real pressed foliages.

Knock knock…..delivery!

My very first commissioned pressed flower artwork, all wrapped up and ready to be delivered to the most wonderful customer.

Sometimes people are just amazing. In a week where I have to admit I’ve hit rock bottom mentally/emotionally, it blows me away that a complete stranger will put 100% trust in me to take care of their precious keepsakes and have faith that i’ll interpret their wishes correctly to create something they love. It truly lifts my heart. 💕

Last year my customers daughter got married. As the proud mum, she carefully made her daughters wedding bouquet then discreetly kept some of stems from the day and pressed them.

Her plan, to make them into a gift for her daughter and her new husband as a wonderful memory of their wedding day.

After seeing my prints in the fabulous (🙏) she got in touch to ask for my help in realising her plan. And what a joy it has been to work with such a beautiful person.

Fingers crossed the couple will love their gift. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻I hope to share some pictures of the piece once the couple have opened their gift.

Yippee! It’s so exciting reviewing the scans of new artwork. 😝

Can’t wait to get these printed!!

A fair swap I’d say. A little thank you posy to great friends who have allowed me to ‘trim’ their Buddleia for my natural dyeing pot.

What’s made you smile today?

I mean a proper, stop in your tracks/‘oh wow’, type of moment.

This little beauty did just that for me this week. It’s always a joy when Roses put on their bonus second flush and this one caught me off guard. I literally stopped dead and found ‘WOW!’ unconsciously uttered before I had time to think.

There’s so much stress, worry, anxiety and just stuff to do in life that these little moments are just precious. 🥰🥰.

I hope you find a wow! today.

My foliage triptych is taking shape. 😝🌱🌿

Got the foliage feels 💕

Well, this last week has not been fun. My poor dad is being slowly (and sometimes not so slowly) taken from us by the horrible combination of Parkinson’s and Dementia.

Staying positive in the midst of all that entails is an uphill struggle, and often a lonely endeavour, despite masses of support from friends and family.

Among things keeping my sanity intact this week has been the most wonderful work and kind supportive people (with the added bonus of being joined by .limbert & ), sharing emotions with my wonderful cousin (who’s dad is also going through Parkinson’s & Dementia) and taking some time to create with some of this years pressed flowers.

This particular piece I think just shows how my natural, and slightly ocd tendencies, show themselves in times of stress. The ordered pattern, repetitiveness and detail allow me to regain and express some control in a time of turbulence, worry and fear.

The fact that subconsciously I chose pale blue flowers, the colour of Parkinson’s UK is not lost on me

Shout out to all carers and patients dealing with this cruel disease. I see you. 👁️

13/06/2023

Yippeee!! Just been out for a little peruse of the cutting patch and found my first ever blooms of Helipterum 🙌🏻🙌🏻….. that’s those little daisy-like blooms with the oh-so-sweet pink edge.

I knew they were a great flower for drying so thought I’d try growing some for longer term use. The plants are still pretty small but these cheery little blooms haven’t half put a smile on my face. 🥰🥰

Instead of drying the whole flower and stem, these first blooms are going in the press to see how they do as a pressed flower. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Nothing is safe from my snippers at the moment. I’m on a flower pressing mission! ✂️ 🌸🌸🌸

Sunny Alstromerias for a glorious day, combined with ‘Auricula Eyed’ Sweet William.

These yellow Alstromeria are one of the easiest things I’ve ever grown but I’ve struggled a bit with growing sweet William. Goodness knows how as they’re meant to be one of the easier things to grow but between missing their ideal planting time and perhaps some odd growing conditions in recent years I’ve had little success. Persevere and finally you get your reward though. It’s looking like a half decent crop this year. 🥰🥰🙌🏻🙌🏻

08/06/2023

A quiet evening pick to soothe a noisy mind.😌

The Alstros are starting to pop open to show their cheery little yellow faces. Just the thing to bring a little joy indoors. 🥰

06/06/2023

Woohoo! It’s Nigella picking and pressing time. They just make the most beautiful pressed flower. 😍😍

Cannot wait to get creating with these beauties. 💙🤍🩵

03/06/2023

It’s been a really slow start to the growing year but finally the cutting patch has produced enough for a decent little bouquet to decorate our outdoor space for an afternoon in the sun (or shade to be precise) 😎

03/06/2023

When visitors come to stay, I love to make them feel welcome with a beautiful vase of scented British flowers in the guest room.

These glorious vibrant sweet peas are from the wonderful - truly seasonal, grown sustainably and 100% British 🇬🇧
