This Sunday (10th) we will be having an offering for our Hub Café Food Parcels during our Morning Service (10:30am).
We give out around 100 food parcels every week, so please bring a tin with you and/or a financial offering, as we look to support our important ministry at this time of year when many are in most need. Thank you!
Following this Sunday's message here is a short sonnet written by Pastor Luke.
We really value God's creative gifts here at CBC. So if you have a poem, picture, photograph or painting, we would be delighted if you would share it with the community. Message us here or email [email protected]
We'd love to invite you to celebrate Christmas with us at our Kid's Christmas Party on Saturday 16th December 2-4pm.
Join us for Soft Play, Bouncy Castles, Crafts and Activities as we have festive fun together.
What are your hopes for Christmas this Advent? Do they centre on health, wealth and success?
For Paul, our hope is not in possessions or achievements, but in a person. It is in Jesus' coming again that we hope, and with Him, God's promises are fulfilled.
Join us Sunday at 10:30am as we begin this Advent season looking at Paul's letter to the Romans.
Make sure to pick up a copy of our new Advent Devotional "Waiting for Jesus" while you're here too!
When the Holy Spirit calls, are we ready to answer? Or are we too busy with other things? Do we think He would get in the way of our plans?
But, God is calling for us to push through the apathy and procrastination, and emerge to renewed Faith, Hope and Courage!
So don't put it off til next week. Join us Sunday at 10:30am as our guest preacher, Paula Chegwin, leads us through this passage from Luke chapter 9.
It's just a few days to go to the Barn Dance!
We hope y'all can mosey on over, by yourself, with a friend or why not bring the whole family! And join in an evening of dancing, games and mighty fine food, all for free!
Drop us a line if you want to join in the fun.
How do we feel when we are outshined by someone else?
As humans we have a natural tendency to want to be the best, strongest, quickest, smartest or funniest. But we can never be the best...because there is already one far greater!
Are we willing, like John the Baptist, to step back from fame and self-reliance, and be overshadowed by Jesus? Join us Sunday at 10:30am as we explore this challenging, counter cultural idea from John chapter 3.
Have we given up on the possibility of peace?
We know from the Bible that there will be an everlasting peace in the Kingdom of God to come.
But what can we do in the meantime?
Do we have the faith to make a difference?
Join us Sunday at 10:30am as we take time to remember, think ahead on God's wonderful promises, and try to answer the question of what we can do in the here and now.
Saddle up and come on over for a Barn Dance for all the family here at Canterbury Baptist Church on Saturday November 25th from 5pm.
We'll have live music (and lively dancing from you!), as well as food, soft drinks and games.
Tickets are FREE!
But if you can let us know if you'd like to come for catering purposes.
See y'all there partners!
Why does God love us?
In John chapter 3, we're not told. It's certainly not because of anything we've done, or our actions or appearance. But...because we haven't earnt it, we cannot lose it. This kind of love is worth all the treasures on earth and more!
Join us Sunday morning at 10:30am, when we will look at this most amazing passage together and see that God doesn't just love us a little, but more than a lot. What will our response be?
POSTPOSED: Due to the storm we're postponing Christianity Explored this evening. Stay safe in the wind and rain.
The Hub Café is a wonderful opportunity to show people the love of Jesus with something as simple as a food donation. If you have a tin lying around somewhere, please bring it along on Sunday morning and bless someone this week. Take care in the rain!
We had a great time at our Light Party yesterday evening. Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped out.

How much do we care about stuff?
This Sunday at 10:30am, as we read through Luke 12:13-22, Jesus challenges us to consider what we might be missing out on as we accumulate possessions.
Come and hear about Jesus' way, and who we could be by His grace.
Less than a week to go until the Light Party. Share with family and friends. It will be so great to have the church filled with children celebrating the Light.

Last week we were blessed with hundreds of food items being donated to the local community through our Hub Cafe. But we want to encourage ourselves to make this a regular part of our giving. Why not set aside a tin from your cupboard, or put an extra one in your weekly shop, ready to bring to CBC on Sunday morning.
Less than 2 weeks until we welcome Kingston Ogango to CBC for this exciting and important workshop. Open to anyone with a concern for children and young people in the digital age. 9.30-2pm Saturday 4th November. Please contact [email protected] to book your place.

We look forward to seeing you there!
We encourage you to 'Bring a Tin' to Church with you this Sunday. A big part of our local service to the community is the Hub Café. Every Thursday we had out nearly 100 food parcels to those in need. Please help support our work by raiding your cupboards for someone in need.

Born again? What does Jesus mean?
It can't be a literal new physical birth...but if it's a heavenly birth, what does that mean?
Come and join us this Sunday at 10:30am as we explore this essential phrase God challenges us with in the Gospel of John.
Come see how this new birth Jesus speaks of unlocks the vision of God's Kingdom, both in the life to come...and also here and now.
Where can we find God today?
He has always longed for a way to be with His people.
This Sunday at 10:30am, in John 2, we'll see how this has been made possible through the person and work of Jesus. We hope to see you there!
We're very excited to welcome Rev Dave Stedman to lead our International Harvest Service on Sunday 22nd October from 10:30am, followed by a Lunch with wonderful cuisine from around Africa. There will also be a chance to support the work of African Pastors Fellowship with an offering during the service. We hope you can come and join the Celebration!
What do our prayers reveal about our faith? Isn't our God capable of miraculous provision?
Join us this Sunday morning 10:30am as we continue our series in the Gospel of John. This week we look at Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. What does this miraculous provision tell us about God? And what does it anticipate Jesus will ultimately do for those who love Him?
Join us on Sunday to find out!
Deconstruction is popular in the Christian West right now.
Feeling let down by the church, Christians look to rediscover the simplicity of the Christian faith.
Join us this Sunday at 10:30am as we explore Jesus' powerfully simple invitation: "Follow me."
Who do you point to with your words and actions? If we point to ourselves, we are not enough.
If you're looking for the answers to life's hardest questions, the answer is not in you.
This Sunday at 10:30am, we'll hear about John, Jesus' forerunner, who prepared the way for Jesus' ministry.
John shows that there's nothing more natural or satisfying than using our lives to point to God - the source of all that is good, and a real source of hope for the world.
What is your relationship with God the Father? Close? Distant? “It’s Complicated”? How can you change that? Thankfully God has done all the heavy lifting!
This Sunday at 10:30am, Luke will lead us through the first part of John chapter 1, where we learn that Jesus, The Word of the Creator God, eternal and present at creation, has brought His unfathomable power into the world once again, forever changing our relationship with the Father.
Through His immense power, He has redeemed us from death and the grave and given us new life...So what should you do about it?
John makes it clear:
Receive Him...
Believe in His Name...
And you have the right to become a child of God.

Do you find yourself boasting? About your possessions? Your intellect? Your skills?
How about what's in your heart?
Paul, writing to the church in Corinth, implores them to focus on this one fact...that anyone united with Christ gets a fresh start, is created new...The old life is gone; a new life emerges! So let the one who boasts, boast in the LORD.
Join us Sunday at 10:30am, as Luke talks about this wonderful message of new creation from 2 Corinthians 5.
This Sunday is a very special Lord's day, as we have the joy of being able to witness baptisms in our Sunday service, at 10:30am.
In baptism, we join with Jesus in His death as the water rushes over us, washing us free from sin through His blood, and as we rise, we stand in the new life of Jesus' resurrection here and now.
We hope you can join us for this very special time of fellowship as we thank and praise God together!
