What a difference five days makes!
On Monday, we awoke to news that someone had stolen our metal goals that our under 7s and under 8s use. This week the community has rallied around the children and through the incredible kindness and selflessness of so many, new goals have been secured. Whilst today they were not the goals they are used to, the results were the same; we had a hatrick, fantastic skills, a goal direct from a corner, fingertip saves, incredible defending and most importantly they were able to smile! Thank-you to everyone for your support this week; we really couldn’t have done it without you! To the under 7s and under 8s in your respective games against Faversham Strike Force Football Club and Herne Bay Harriers, you made us so proud and showed that whatever is thrown at you, you stick together and give it your all! Up the Bears!
Thank-you to Monkton FC for coming and playing our under 7’s today. It was a great game and we look forward to the return fixture.
Well done everyone! Some fantastic football on display and some great smiles 👍👍👍
Today our under 8’s had their first taste of 7 aside football in an absolutely fantastic game with Ramsgate Football Club . There was huge skill on display from both sides, some brilliant goals and some great tackles. Most importantly the match was played with fantastic sportsmanship from both the children and the coaches.
We all learned a lot today and huge thanks to Nick and all the Ramsgate FC YS coaches who both arranged the game and made us feel very welcomed. It was great to catch up with the coaches after as well and we look forward to arranging another match with them. -you
Huge thank-you to Margate Youth FC for hosting both our under 7’s and under 8’s today. They both had an incredible time playing in such a wonderful setting and you were fantastic hosts!
Special mention to Faye from Margate who always makes us feel so welcome and has helped us on a number of occasions. Brilliant culture and a privilege to share a pitch with both your teams!
Fantastic support from both the Barham and Margate supporters and a true advert for youth football. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Good luck to all the children this weekend! Have fun and play with a smile
Today was a very different game for our under 8’s. Whilst there is an ideal and “beautiful” way to play the game, today these young children had to show a completely different side to their game. They gave everything for each other and we could not be prouder. Most of all, the way they play the game in terms of sportsmanship is fantastic. Yes you are all incredible footballers, but more importantly you are seriously incredible children with a togetherness and maturity well above your years. You are an honour to coach and watch develop and we are so proud of you. You can be anything you want to be!
One word for this bunch…amazing!! An incredible performance again this week…how do they get better and better every week!! It’s all about the smiles!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
As parents we have a choice this weekend...
💙We can be the supportive, loving parent who encourages everyone to have fun in a safe environment
or
🤯Be THAT parent that shouts instructions, complains, focuses too much on winning and embarrasses themselves?
🙋We all have a choice and we know which one our players would prefer!
🙂Lets all play our part this weekend to make matches a fun and a safe learning environment for young people to grow!
Have great weekend of football everyone!
It’s all about the celebration…😍
A fantastic match between our under 8’s and Herne Bay Harriers today. It was great to feel so welcomed and the pitches looked fantastic. Both teams showed endless energy, team-spirit and no end of skill. We had some incredible wizardry on the wings, fantastic energy in the middle of the park and no end of smiles! Thank-you Herne Bay Harriers FC it was a delight to come and play with you and we look forward to welcoming you later in the season.
Finally, we already have a contender for celebration of the season…
A fantastic way to finish the weekend and conclude a full programme of wins at The Bear Trap this weekend. We started the weekend with a great performance from our youngest team, the Under 7’s, and finished it with our Under 14’s running out 4-3 winners against in the East Kent League. Huge congratulations to all our teams and good luck to all those playing this weekend!
Great day for Barham under 8 to host Faversham Strike Force Football Club this morning. Great game with some good football played on both sides.
What an unbelievable performance from our Under 7’s this morning. An unbelievable display of teamwork, skill, togetherness and all with smiles on their faces. A fitting performance on such a beautiful morning at The Bear Trap (I know we are biased but is there any better setting to play football?) You were brilliant every single one of you. What a team you are and the progress you have made is beyond incredible; huge credit to the children, parents, supporters and of course the coaches Kevin and Martin who have dedicated endless time and energy to the squad!

Our under 18’s had a match under lights last night against our friends from Chartham FC.
They displayed an incredible amount of passion, heart, teamwork and skill. It is hard to put into words the progress that this team has made having only come together at the start of the season. The progress from a football perspective has been exponential but it has been equally matched by their progress as young men; they support each other in every sense, both on the pitch and off it and show a level of compassion for each other that demonstrates maturity well beyond their years.
This is just the start of the journey for them and they will go from strength to strength; they can be anything they want to be.
Thank-you for allowing us to be part of your journey team - you provide a great amount of joy to the club.
Finally, but by no means least, a huge thank-you to the “gaffer” Katrina who has been the driving force behind this team. You have put a huge amount of time, energy and effort into this team and we wouldn’t have been able to have the joy we have had without your selfless work. A huge thank-you to our sponsors as well; and Hearts Delight Farm. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.
For the first time in its history Barham FC entered an under 7 team in to a football league. The team has played against some of the biggest teams in the area; they have given their absolute all throughout, supported each other and played with a level of respect for each other and opposition well beyond their years.
We don't have the words to describe how proud we are of them. Whilst for many in football, success is judged by results, success for us is defined by much more; the smiles, the friendships, the support to one another, their development and progress as both footballers and children to name a few. To watch them laughing and running around well after training finishes is just as big a success as a win and shows the special bond they have built.
None of this would have been possible without the guidance of their coach Kevin and his team. We are incredibly lucky to have a coach with such compassion, enthusiasm and football knowledge and he has been a quite remarkable guiding force for them; we would not change him for the world.
A special mention must also go the parents, grand-parents, sisters, brothers and everyone else who supports these children. The club is privileged to have your support and enthusiasm and you could not have made life any easier for us
Thank-you again to the children, to Kevin and his team and to everyone involved for bringing a smile to everyone who has had anything to do with this wonderful group.
Merry Christmas all!
Merry Christmas to everyone from Barham U8. This team has come so far from where they were a year ago
We have run out of positive things to say about this incredible team. They have grown as a team every single week, been there for each other and supported one another every step of the way. Their journey has not just been a quite extraordinarily positive one on the football pitch, but one of huge development off the pitch; they understand what being part of a team means, what commitment to each other entails and how to support one another. They have enjoyed both their success as a team and their teammate's individual successes; most importantly they have understood what respect means for each other and opposition.
All of this was on display in abundance today when they had one of their toughest tests yet against . They were brave, brilliant and battled side by side with each other for the whole game. They played with the hearts of lions, but they are our Barham Bears!
Only one of our games went ahead today, but this was against our brilliant friends from Herne Bay Youth. They have helped us in almost every possible way this season, providing advice, friendlies and a huge amount of time. Today was no different and with many last minute alterations to the game they couldn't have made life any easier for us! We can't express our gratitude more and today's game was played with all the smiles, encouragement and pride we have come to know from them. Thank-you again!
Secondly, a huge thank-you to all the Barham FC parents that made this game possible; with the undersoil heating a few years off, we relied on parents with forks to help drain the pitch. We also had parents making undoubtedly the best tea & coffee in Kent, parents digging cars out of the mud, but more important than anything we had supportive parents on both sides!
We had 14 players of the match today and we are proud of every single one of them. Youth football and community at its best!
What an absolute bunch of heroes our under 7s are. The progress they have made is beyond believable. They have stuck together through wind, rain, cold and so much more. They are an inspiration to everyone throughout the club, showing that with teamwork, hard work and team spirit, anything can be achieved. Huge credit to the children for everything you have achieved; thanks to the parents for your incredible support; finally to Kevin and the coaches - the amount of time and effort you put in with these children is truly special. What a team you are! Keep inspiring everyone around you!!
Pictures from our under 8 game with
A message for our under 18 squad; The club is so proud of you! You are an inspiration to everyone who has been lucky enough to meet you. You demonstrate maturity well beyond your years, show a kindness and support to each other that epitomises the word team. It has been great to watch you grow as a squad, welcome new players with open arms and demonstrate an incredible level of inclusivity. You play with such a smile and bring a smile to so many others, including the 8 year old boy you let referee your squad game today - we have no doubt it will be the easiest game he ever has to referee! Football is undoubtedly a better sport for having you involved. Please keep doing what you are doing!
Finally a huge thank-you to and Heart's Delight Farm who kindly sponsored the kit for them. Without kind sponsors like you, we wouldn't be able to let such people flourish.
It was an absolute honour to host Under 8 blue team this morning at The Bear Trap. You are an incredible team with unbelievable coaches, brilliant supporters and your players exhibit a wonderful team spirit. The way your players conduct themselves on the pitch is exemplary. Thank-you for all the games so far this season and all the help you have offered us to date. See you soon!
As we approach another weekend of football, the club would like to place on record our huge thanks to all the Barham FC coaches who allow our children to play football. The list of things you give your time for is endless. Whilst the coaching is the most visible, this is only a small part of what you do; you tirelessly give up your time to help prepare pitches, construct training sessions, organise fixtures and the list goes on.
We couldn't ask for better coaches. Thank-you!
A clip that epitomises the culture and ethos of Barham FC under 8’s. Whilst we fully embrace individual brilliance and encourage every player to express themselves to their full ability, we strongly believe that this needs to be combined with teamwork and team spirit. We work so hard on passing and team play and it was a delight to witness the team move in their match on Saturday. We hope that these solid foundations of teamwork and understanding of what is needed to be a football team will provide strong foundations going forward. We also believe that every player should know the importance of every role in a football team. A tackle or a pass is just as important as a step-over or a goal. These children have progressed so much over the last 12 months and we couldn’t be prouder.
Another great session tonight under the lights at the Bear Trap for the under 8
A few images from today’s game with a great team
