This May during Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re partnering with Madhappy! They will release a special capsule collection of items featuring artwork by children in the Child Mind Institute community, with 100% of the net profits going to the Child Mind Institute to help us in our efforts to transform the lives of children struggling with mental health and learning disorders.
Here’s what you can do - Encourage your child to draw what makes them happy on a blank sheet of white paper. Use crayons, markers or colored pencils and get creative! Submit the artwork via the form in the link below.

Join us this month in mindful noticing in December. Set an intention this month to use what’s happening around you to connect with what’s happening within.
Each day our December calendar offers a prompt inviting us to pause to notice how December fills with little changes all around… Christmas trees and decorations, Christmas lights, sights and sounds. It is all too easy to get swept up in the doing of it all. And in nature, we can notice the shapes of the tree branches again, notice how the frosty mornings make us feel.
In this way we see and we pause to feel how the outer environment makes us feel inside. Mindfulness helps us to notice how the outer world and our inner worlds are inextricably connected.
Follow the link in our bio to download your copy from our website, and you'll also find a black-and-white printer-friendly version too.
We wish you a peaceful and joyful December 🙂

We are our best when we look out for each other.
“Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones.
But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.
A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said.
We are at our best when we serve others.”
