Carmarthenshire Museum is open 11:00 to 4:00, Wednesday to Sunday.

Since 1999, Portable Antiquities Scheme Cymru has encouraged the reporting of archaeological objects found by metal detectorists and other members of the public, which are not covered by the Treasure Act 1996.

25 YEARS OF TREASURES: THE PORTABLE ANTIQUITIES SCHEME IN WALES – Tenby Museum & Art Gallery This talk will explore the work of PAS Cymru in safeguarding Welsh heritage, considering the relationships between archaeology and metal detecting communities, and celebrating the quality of archaeological materials which have been identified through the work of the scheme.

Amazing couple of days in the museum working on the exhibition. Huge thanks to Huw and the support from the Celtic Heritage Metal Detecting & Events - South Wales club, for sharing time and artefacts. It's coming together!

Being Human Festival: Mapping the Metals – Community Heritage and Metal Detecting

Help conduct and document analysis of the archaeological treasures that can be found on your doorstep.

Alongside community groups and local detectorists, this event invites members of the public to help conduct and document archaeological analysis – from plotting find spreads to interpreting information and strengthening understanding of life in early Wales from the local archaeological treasures on our doorstep.

The Portable Antiquity Scheme generates a huge amount of information about archaeological find spots in Wales but lacks scope to conduct in-depth analysis and research. Come and play a part in enhancing knowledge and understanding of the important archaeological landscapes of local communities.
