We're on a mission to embed climate action and skills within the School of Music & Sound curriculum, especially around live events. This week students worked with sustainability consultant Pauline Bourdon to develop Event Sustainability Action Plans for Immersed! Festival which takes place at the Tramshed Feb 10th 2022.
Delivering on these plans is a strong driver with a "show and tell" showcase planned within the Festival to share and celebrate best practices.

📢 USW Music is proud to announce an industry partnership with award-winning record label LIBERTINO & we're celebrating with a showcase event of talks & music featuring Adwaith, Bandicoot & Clwb Fuzz.
Libertino has grown extensively over the last few years & today has a roster of over 20 artists who create & perform in both Welsh & English languages. It's home to the mighty Adwaith who won the Welsh Music Prize in 2019 along with Keys, N’famady Kouyate, Sister Wives, Kidsmoke plus a growing number of exciting new & emerging artists.
Label owner Gruff Owen will bring his considerable experience to our MA Songwriting & Production programme through a series of bespoke masterclasses & a prestigious Libertino Graduate Award.
"Gruff personifies the social-entrepreneur spirit. Libertino Records plays a considerably positive role in terms of social impact for Welsh musicians & musicians living in Wales. I am looking forward to digging deep into what drives Gruff & his motivation behind running an Indie label in an industry supposedly ruled by streaming." (Course Leader & Keys frontman Matthew Evans)
"The MA Songwriting & Production programme at the University of South Wales not only enhances & fine-tunes the students' songwriting talent & production skills it also gives them a full understanding of the nuances of the music industry in 2021. This wider understanding of the ever-evolving & shifting industry alongside a progressive & exciting musical curriculum is creating artists who are bold in their creativity & are industry aware whilst forging a sustainable career. As a forward-thinking & community focused label Libertino is excited to be part of the students' creative & academic journey. We will deliver bespoke workshops & masterclasses & are very proud to endorse the ‘MA Songwriting and Production’ degree through the ‘Libertino Graduate Award for Excellence’. (Libertino CEO Gruff Owen)

Lucky BA Music Producing students get to hang out with Grammy nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda for an interactive Q&A about the role of the music producer in the modern music industry.
Romesh’s career shows that with dedication & enthusiasm there are many sustainable opportunities for our graduates. A USW Alumni himself, Romesh has worked with some of the biggest names in rock, pop & metal including Motörhead, Bring Me the Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine & Funeral for a Friend.
The visit represents the start of Romesh’s involvement with the degree which culminates in the Romesh Dodangoda Graduate Award for Excellence for outstanding final year work.
Our BA Music Producing programme has gone from strength to strength as we welcomed its 1st cohort to USW this September. The course has quickly established a vibrant learning community that embraces industry partnerships & innovative music technology.
