We offer for sale an attractive Georgian antique Oak birdcage tilt top table.
The antique table has a circular shaped top which is 38 inches wide.
We believe that many years ago the ball finials were added to convert it from a side or console table into the perfect height as as dinning table.
Easily the table will seat four guests.
A lovely period table that has which is raised on a turned solid Oak pedestal with a tripod base with ball finials to the base of the tripod feet.
The patina is simply to die for a few blemishes that show its age but do not detract from the quality of this piece.
The top can be tilted upright for storage purposes, and has a 90 degree rotation. A rather neat example, with wonderful patina throughout. The first to see it will buy it.
.DIMENSIONS:Height (table) – 74 / Height (upright) - 116.5cm / Width – 82.5cm / Depth (upright) – 63cm

A retro vintage teak topped extendable Dinning table designed by Tom Robertson and manufactured by A.H. McIntosh of Kirkcaldy in the 1960s.
This piece of Scottish mid century furniture features the swing top table extender design that was a patented design.
Scottish furniture manufacturer McIntosh is best known on the vintage market for their mid-century style furniture, particularly for teak cabinetry, tables, chairs and sideboards.
The company was Founded in 1869 by Alexander Henry (A.H) McIntosh (1835-1919) in Kirkcaldy, Fife.
The business quickly grew in size, requiring new, larger premises just a decade later. In 1879, McIntosh bought a new factory and opened Victoria Cabinet Works a year later.
Though little information regarding McIntosh’s early designs is available, it is known that the factory—like many British enterprises—joined the war effort during the First World War. With most workers (including the founder’s grandson, Henry) called up to enlist, the McIntosh factory began manufacturing airplane wings and other parts for the duration of the war. During this time, Alexander Henry’s son Thomas Wishart McIntosh (1861–1933), headed the family business from London, where McIntosh had established an office.
Despite an aesthetic that could be mistaken as Danish modern, the company marketed itself, both at home and abroad, as a proud Scottish firm that utilized traditional processes and that employed local, highly-skilled cabinetmakers. The McIntosh label, which survives on many 1950s and 1960s pieces, shows the Scottish thistle and crown, a long-time symbol of Scotland. From 1948 until 1983, Tom Robertson worked as head designer for the firm; creating his most notable design, the teak Dunvegan sideboard (1960s) known for its sculpted handles.
We offer this iconic piece for sale at our Cardiff shop and would welcome any questions you may have.
The table happily sits six or 8 guests.
What make someone a bard?
A bard or poet, especially one who writes impassioned, lyrical, or epic verse is the traditional Welsh way of recording daring deeds in your village or town before the written word.
Bards were originally Celtic composers of eulogy and satire; the word came to mean more generally a tribal poet-singer gifted in composing and reciting verses on heroes and recording there village or family history.
This tradition goes way back to 1176 when a bardic chair was first referenced in popular culture.
Dandy Gallery Retro Vintage are based in Cardiff and we’re happy to help with the supply a bardic chair to the school as a project.
The chair was part of of a Dinning set which only had one large arm chair and four Dinning chairs.
The team at Dandy Gallery Have researched the history of the chair and the cheirs properly represent the arts and crafts period of Gordon Russell inspired pieces which are now part of the Welsh story.
Dandy Gallery retro vintage also hold and amazing drinks cabinet which again is in the arts and Crafts style.
What an out come.
Thank you for sharing your pictures along the way and we’re hoping to follow the chairs journey as time goes by.
Good luck.
