Society Awards

Best Social Media Campaign/Work
The society which has had the best social media campaign/work, with the most engaged social media platform and campaign which has been reaching and engaging and has captured their creativity and innovation.

Best Newcomer Society
The society in their first year of running and has gone above and beyond to do the most for their members through events and activities and have achieved positive engagement to sustain their future. The newcomer society which has gone the extra mile to contribute bettering students’ lives.

Best Event
Highlighting a particular event or activity where a society has gone above and beyond to put on a great opportunity for its members.

Most Engaged Committee Member
The committee member who has been the most engaged; showing continuous dedication to the success of their society.

Student Leadership Awards
The student who excelled taking on a leadership role within a society, who has been a consistent and reliable leader, demonstrated their ability enthuse and motivate others around them and gone over and beyond.

Best Medium Society (50 – 100 members)
The society which has gone above and beyond to do the most for their members through events and activities. The society which has gone the extra mile to contribute bettering students’ lives.

Best Large Society (100+ members)
The society which has gone above and beyond to do the most for their members through events and activities. The society which has gone the extra mile to contribute bettering students’ lives.

Phenomenal Performance Award
Recognising the society which has gone above and beyond not simply in its activity but striving for Gold tier; delivering amazing opportunities and a sense of community for its members.

Volunteering Awards

Student Led Project of the Year
The best student-led project which has delivered meaningful outcomes and has been developed in a sustainable way, provided a valuable volunteering experience, and initiated a new and innovative event/activity or developed an existing event/activity.

Volunteer of the Year
The student who has embodied the role of being a volunteer and been consistent and reliable, team player helping other volunteers, enthusiastic and motivated to achieve a positive impact. This individual has gone over and above to improve the impact of the project or event.

Lead Volunteer of the Year
The student Lead Volunteer who excelled beyond all others having taken on a leadership role who has been a consistent and reliable leader, demonstrated their ability enthuse and motivate other volunteers around them and gone over and beyond. This individual has been a role model volunteer and worked closely with Cardiff Volunteering in leading the project.

Community Impact Award
The Cardiff Volunteering project or event that has had the greatest impact on its beneficiaries, delivered outcomes which have had a clear and meaningful impact and is developed in a sustainable way to ensure activity can continue in future years.

Outstanding Contribution Award
Awarded to the student (or students) who demonstrated an above and beyond level of commitment. Individual(s) who have actively supported the development of volunteering activity outside their own volunteering stood out as a positive role model and through their actions and activities, raised the profile of volunteering within Cardiff University.


General Student Group Awards - Can be won by any group Societies and Volunteering

Most Innovative Virtual Activity
The student group who has delivered the most innovative and creative virtual activity or event.

Best Collaboration
The student group(s) which has carried out the best and a successful collaboration event or activity with another student group.

Sustainability Award
The student group, whose activities who have continuously shown careful consideration to environmental practices; going above and beyond to promote sustainability, encouraged environmentally friendly practices

Best Fundraising Event or Activity
The student group who has carried out the best fundraising event or activity, successfully raising money for a charity or charitable cause.

WINTER SHOWCASE:
For two weeks (1st-12th December), The Guild of Societies presents the annual Winter Showcase, where our Societies are encouraged to celebrate the end of another term with trips, concerts, performances, workshops, lectures, or anything else they can think of! As with most of the things you’ve run this year, these events should be conducted virtually. These events should also highlight your Society and should be open to anyone to attend and get involved with (much like a Give it a Go event). VARIETY NIGHT:
The Winter Showcase Variety Night will be running virtually this year on the 11th December! For this event, Societies are encouraged to record and show off their range of incredible talents and entertain our students! Previous performances have included singing, dancing, comedy skits, charity drives, aerial acrobatics, short plays, and sword-fighting – so anyone really can get involved! We’ll then stream the performances on the 11th December via our various social media platforms, so, again, it’s a great way to promote your Society!
