🚨 Calling all IDVAs and ISVAs! 🚨

Are you looking to deepen your understanding of intersectionality and how it impacts your work? Join us on October 1st from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM (via Teams) for a training session on Intersectionality and Anti-Oppressive Practice.

Intersectionality has been central to understanding inequality, identity and power relations in society. In this course, we’ll dive deep into the complexities of unconscious bias and explore practical strategies to challenge these biases.

This is an essential session for anyone committed to gearing their practice towards promoting diversity and equity, challenge discrimination and make services inclusive and equitable. 💬

On this International Youth Day, we’re proud to spotlight Ask Me- our early intervention program co-created with children and young people. Their insights and experiences have shaped Ask Me into a powerful tool for peer support. This program is a testament to the change young people can create when empowered to lead. Together, we’re building resources that truly centre young voices.
Happy International Youth Day!💜

“Ask and Act” is a process of targeted enquiry to be practiced across the Public Service to identify violence against women, domestic abuse, and sexual violence. ‘Targeted enquiry’ means recognizing signs of violence, domestic abuse, or sexual violence and asking clients if they've been affected. If you're a professional ready to make a difference, you can sign up to become an Ask and Act trainer.

Thank you to all who planned and attended a special ‘Ceilidh for Catherine’ event recently, in memory of our wonderful and inspirational colleague, Catherine Thomas.

The night was full of love, laughter and plenty of dancing. We are honoured to say that an amazing £1,759 has been raised in Catherine’s memory.

Her passion for ending violence against women was palpable to all around her, and we are sure she would have been very proud of this fitting tribute. 💜

📢We are calling for action!

We urge the next UK government to support adoption of a whole systems approach to tackle domestic abuse. Comprehensive reforms across all sectors are needed to ensure coordinated, effective support for all survivors.

Photos from Welsh Women's Aid's post 03/07/2024

📢We encourage all parties to lead by example and campaign responsibly.
📌During elections, parties try to engage voters and make impactful promises. However, in the rush to secure votes, responsible campaigning must not be overlooked. Weaponizing communities for traction, as seen in past rhetoric against migrants, refugees, women, and q***r individuals, only marginalizes the vulnerable further. Every individual deserves to feel valued and heard. Let’s work together to create a political environment that fosters respect, truth, and genuine progress for all.

📢 We are calling for action!

All Survivors deserve safety, support, and a system that works for them. We hope that that the next UK government can work towards legislative reform to ensure comprehensive support for all survivors of domestic abuse. Migrant and refugee survivors especially face unique challenges accessing essential services and protections. By prioritizing legislative change, parties can demonstrate their commitment to equity and justice, ensuring that no survivor is left behind.
