Huntleigh Healthcare are saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Chris Redman. Alongside Professor Geoffrey Dawes Professor Redman invented, and subsequently led the development of, the Dawes-Redman system of CTG interpretation, which gives clinicians an objective reference to aid their clinical judgement of CTG traces.

Huntleigh were privileged to work with Professor Redman in the course of supporting the development of the Dawes-Redman algorithm and its inclusion in Huntleigh products. We believe his contribution to field of obstetric care cannot be overstated; the lives of healthy mothers and babies that owe a debt to his work are incalculable. An inspirational figure to work with, he will be dearly missed by us all.

We've had a great time at The Royal College of Midwives conference this year, meeting from across the UK!

Earlier this year we donated a Sonicaid fetal Doppler to Life for African Mothers, which was delivered to Freetown, Sierra Leone. But they weren’t sent by courier. A delegation of midwives from the UK took the Doppler with them on their trip to deliver on LFAM’s key mission: providing tailored training to midwives in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Like any medical device, Dopplers are only useful in the hands of trained practitioners; it takes midwives to save lives. So on International Day of the Midwife, we’d like to say thanks to LFAM, and to the midwives of Sierra Leone and the rest of the world, for saving lives on a daily basis. It’s a privilege to support the work you do.
