Big congratulations to Jake Neale, who has been promoted to Middleweight Designer.
Jake started with us in 2021 and has grown so much as a creative.
We're looking forward to seeing what he achieves in the future! Da iawn, Jake.
It’s two years since we took a giant ice heart to COP26 in Glasgow with The Climate Coalition - an image projected around the world as a symbol of urgency and hope 💚
At the time, UK gov was celebrated for its leadership of the conference. It claimed to have kept alive the hope of limiting warming to 1.5°C, but acknowledged its ‘pulse was weak’.
Since then, it has:
🚗 Delayed the phaseout of petrol cars and gas boilers
🏚️ Abandoned new home insulation regs for landlords
💷 Fallen well behind on climate payments for developing countries
🛢️ Issued new oil and gas licenses in the North Sea
Meanwhile, global temperature records continue to tumble, and 2023 is already almost certain to be the warmest on record. The average global temperature in September was 1.83°C above pre-industrial levels.
So, Rishi Sunak, Jeremy Hunt. How’s that pulse looking now?
We’re really excited to tell you all about the newest member of our team 🎉
Kieran Traas joins us, boasting all-round design talent, solid experience, and a penchant for creating things that bring joy.
Welcome to the herd, Kieran!
It can often be difficult for our young creatives to know what they want to do with their career. To help them out, we've established a programme called 'The Takeaway' - designed to give them a chance to experience a real life commercial project, gaining life long skills to move forward into their career journey.
Check out our latest blog to learn more about the first-ever Takeaway project with Pride Cymru and students from MAC Media Academy Cymru. ⬇️
The Takeaway – A new initiative for our young creatives - Blue Stag We’ve been cooking up a new initiative called ‘The Takeaway’. Its aim is to bridge the gap between young creatives and the creative sector.
Six students. Two teams. One creative brief.
Blue Stag recently launched The Takeaway, a project bridging the gap between education and the creative sector. It offers a platform for students to develop professional skills on real commercial projects, all under the watchful eyes of industry pros.
Each team had three weeks to create a video showreel to celebrate and commemorate last month's Pride Cymru Festival 2023 at Cardiff Castle.
Yesterday, we held our first-ever Takeaway Awards, where our gourmet judges celebrated and acknowledged the students' incredible achievements, creativity, and hard work.
We're so proud of these young creatives for rising to the challenge and thankful to our partners, friends, and staff who have made The Takeaway possible.
🚀 Young creatives: Noah Bakour, Tailan de Morais, Rose Leask, Sienna Taylor, Bethan Young, Penny Weir
🛟 Team mentors: Kendra Eden Photography, Jake Neale
✏️ Judges: Dan Walsh, Rhi Leedam, Joe Sullivam
⭐ Client partner: Pride Cymru
🤝 Education partner: MAC Media Academy Cymru
The Takeaway will return soon! If you're interested in learning more, please get in touch.

We have loved working on the Wales Without Violence campaign with Wales Violence Prevention Unit and Media Academy Cymru (MAC) over the past 12 months.
The insights and input of young people from across Wales were vital to the campaign's success, and we also saw this as an opportunity to have young people work alongside the Blue Stag team on various components of the campaign.
Together, we have created a compelling showreel that encapsulates the most memorable moments from the launch event at Tramshed.
Thanks to MAC and their students for bringing creativity and energy to the project. We couldn't have created this showreel without them.
Read about our collaboration with the creative students and watch the final showreel below...
Collaborating with Cardiff film students for a Wales without violence - Blue Stag We’ve been working alongside the Wales Violence Prevention Unit and Media Academy Cymru to end violence among young people in Wales.
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming some exceptionally talented creative students from MAC Media Academy Cymru to our office.
Together, we worked on producing a showreel video that showcases the launch event.
It was important for us to involve young people in the creative process, as the campaign represents a collective hope for a violence-free Wales and a bold ambition from young people.
The students played a pivotal role in this project by helping with filming, conducting interviews, and providing their creative perspectives on the final product. Yesterday, we presented the first draft of the video to them, and we were blown away by the fresh and innovative ideas they brought to the table.
We're excited to launch the final video soon, so stay tuned!
Kudos to Kendra Stone and Jake Neale for leading the session.
Sending our best wishes to Alex as he begins his paternity leave.
We hope you enjoy this special time with Lowri, and we can't wait to have you back with us in three months 🫶

Violence ruins lives. It comes in many forms and affects us all in some way or another. To address this, we’ve been working with MAC Media Academy Cymru and Wales Violence Prevention Unit on a pop-up shop in Cardiff’s City Centre. The space was created for young people to come in and share their views on how we can work together to end youth violence in Wales.

Last Friday our Marketing Manager Kendra went along to CreativeMornings/Cardiff at Yellow The Social Enterprise. The boys from Storm & Shelter were there sharing their story about capturing truth through storytelling and story construction in film and documentaries.
We're thankful for these kind of events, as they challenge us to think about how we approach our own creative work; about how we share our clients' stories. 🙌
Something new is coming to The Capitol, and we’d love to hear from more businesses in Cardiff about how we can make this a better space for them.

Our favourite part of a creative shoot is getting to eat what we're shooting afterwards. In this case, it was two big delicious Marks and Spencer pies, packaged by one of our clients. 🥧
We've thoroughly enjoyed working with Keep Wales Tidy - Cadwch Gymru'n Daclus and Marine Conservation Society on Marine Clean Cymru. Keep Wales Tidy are an awesome organisation who are committed to working with local communities to keep our natural environment safe and clean for our generations to come.
The aim of this campaign was to encourage people to go to their local water area, and to sign up to pledge to keep their area clean. Here's what we did! 🐬
Celebrating our recent work with Youth Business International (YBI) on the Global Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2022!
The Summit showcased inspiring young entrepreneurs and how their businesses are addressing global issues like hunger and climate change, driving forward the green economy and plugging gaps in social welfare.
Here's the showreel we produced for the Summit. A special mention to our team members Alex Jenkins and Jake Neale for their hard work on this. You've done a brilliant job.
Thanks to Miranda Page, Alex Krook and the rest of the YBI team for trusting us with this project. 🙌
We've been talking to different young people in our collaborative pop-up space, to ask about their thoughts on youth violence, and how we can work together for a safer Wales. 🙌🏽

In less than one week, we've all worked together to turn a vacant shop in Cardiff's Duke Arcade into a bright and interactive space. We love being involved with meaningful work like this, and look forward to hearing what kind of inspiring conversations come from this space.
