This week at Warmere several residents celebrated their birthdays, with Daisy celebrating her 105th birthday!

She enjoyed celebrating with her family, plenty of cake and a performance from John Longo to celebrate her special day.

Sycamore Lodge have become a member of North’s Somerset’s Healthy Workplaces scheme having achieved a bronze award. The scheme provides a framework to celebrate work to support staff health and wellbeing with opportunities to achieve the ‘Healthy Workplaces’ award.

Deerswood Lodge Resident Rosina celebrated her 100th Birthday and was joined by her family to read out her card from King Charles!
We then preceded with the Long Service Awards with refreshments and a wonderful buffet made onsite.
Employees were presented with gifts and certificates by Shaw heathcare CEO Russell Brown, Shaw Board Member Robert Cherry, Regional Operations Director Martin Vanhinsbergh, Senior Operations Manager Clare Gibson and Mayor Sharmila Sivarajah.
Also in attendance were Jilly hart and Julian Charatan from Crawley Council and Pam Goulding-Quinn our West Sussex contract Lead.
The afternoon was rounded off with entertainment from local singer Kate belting out hit songs in the West Sussex sunshine.

Lancum House attended the Dementia Sings Out 5th birthday celebrations recently with residents and family members.

The Wellingborough Gospel Choir sang and there was a lot of dancing and singing along the whole morning. It was a really uplifting experience.

What an amazing day at Croft Meadow’s Hollywood themed summer fete on Saturday. What a fantastic day!

Another fun afternoon full of singing and dancing at Lancum House on Wednesday when Ian Kirby came to entertain. Look out for the lovely hairstyles too of the residents who popped into the Salon for a pamper.

Just look at how the garden is blooming, we have everything from giant sunflowers, which were set from seed by the residents, to tomatoes and strawberry plants. We definitely have some green fingers here!

Llys Hafren residents enjoyed a trip to Barmouth, they enjoyed fish & chips for dinner followed by spending some 2p’s in the arcade!

Peter went on a ride which took him straight back to his childhood memories. We then enjoyed an ice-cream by the sea. 🌊 🍦

West Sussex care home worker picks up Care Home Carer award A support worker at The Martlets care home in East Preston has won an award for her hard work and dedication to the care home profession.

Nick was in for skittles recently at Elizabeth House. There was lots of laughing and joking during the friendly game, Martin was particularly happy with his win!

We had a fantastic sunny afternoon at Leadon Bank celebrating the South Powys and Central Regional Star awards last week.

We had our very own 'Ross & Rachael' for the Friends themed event, our Operation Manager's Rachael Glover-Winfield & Ross Anderson who made sure the day ran smoothly and everyone enjoyed themselves.

We all enjoyed some fantastic food from Chillidogs and refreshments from our very own Central Perk cafe (El Coffee Shack )

This morning a couple of our ladies at Cartref enjoyed a coffee morning at our local RBL community hub. It was lovely for them to catch up with friends and members of our local community for a chat. They were both delighted to win a prize on the tombola.

Double celebrations at Froome Bank yesterday as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary and Long Service Awards!

New Elmcroft had a lovely time visiting Shoreham Academy Yesterday.

They enjoyed a lovely walk in the sunshine there and back.

There was entertainment, bingo, food, drink, and wonderful hospitality by students and staff.

Also a chance to meet staff and residents from other homes.

Wales & West held their Regional Shaw Star awards yesterday.

The event took place in Kidz R Us in Tredegar with staff from the homes across the region all coming together to celebrate those being recognised as our Shaw Stars.

Everyone enjoyed drinks and a buffet lunch.

Staff at Greenhill enjoyed a Friday night out at an Escape Room event in Newport.

Staff were split in to two teams with one group escaping from jail and the other collecting gold coins on a pirate ship. The team in jail managed to escape, thank goodness! And the pirate ship team collected all 100 coins - a feat that only 5% of participants have ever achieved!

This was followed by a lovely meal in TGI Fridays. It was a great night, enjoyed by all!

Ashburnham House took part in the Grow for Talgarth “Big Garden Weekend” last week.

We entered the “wheelbarrow comp and came 3rd!

We also opened our garden area up for the weekend to show off veg, flowers, raised beds, water feature and recycling projects - making items from old pallets etc.

We had many members of the public visit over the 2 days and they were very impressed with the garden and its features.

Residents at Maes-y-Wennol got to see Llanidloes carnival parade last Saturday. The marching band even turned and gave the residents a special song. We are very lucky to have such a vibrant little community.
