Barnardo's Cymru
We have been working with children and families in Wales for more than a century.
We’ve had a great time at our Swansea Bloom service this year, with lots of fun days out for care experienced young people- even a spot of alpaca trekking at Cae Glas Camping & Alpaca Hire.
So if you’re care experienced and would like to join us for future social activities, skills and confidence building then why not use this to get in touch at [email protected] or see our page Barnardo’s Swansea to learn more.
Rydyn ni wedi cael amser gwych yn ein gwasanaeth Bloom yn Abertawe eleni, gyda llawer o ddiwrnodau llawn hwyl i bobi ifanc sydd â phrofiad o fod mewn gofal-cawsom hyd yn oed gyfle i fynd ar daith gerdded gyda alpacas gyda &AlpacaHire.
Felly, os oes gennych chi brofiad o fod mewn gofal a’ch bod yn awyddus i ymuno â ni ar gyfer ein gweithgareddau cymdeithasol, ac i ddatblygu sgiliau a meithrin hyder yn y dyfodol, beth am ddefnyddio i gysylltu â [email protected]? Neu ewch i’n tudalen Facebook ’sSwansea.
This we’re calling for Welsh Government to ensure that every young person leaving care gets the support they need to secure a safe home and positive future.
That means ensuring an active, wraparound offer of support that ensures they can achieve their potential while taking their first important steps to independence.
Rydyn ni’n galw ar Lywodraeth Cymru i sicrhau bod yr holl bobl ifanc sy’n gadael gofal yn cael y cymorth sydd ei angen arnynt i sicrhau cartref diogel a dyfodol cadarnhaol.
Mae hynny’n golygu sicrhau bod cymorth gweithredol, cofleidiol yn cael ei gynnig i’r bobl ifanc hyn, sy’n sicrhau eu bod yn gallu cyflawni eu potensial yn ogystal â chymryd eu camau cyntaf hollbwysig tuag at annibyniaeth.
This week is so why not take the first step towards completing your family by contacting Barnardo’s Cymru Adoption and Fostering Services?
Anamica and Prashan have discovered the joy of being parents for the first time, thanks to the arrival of two-year-old Neel. You can read their story at
How fosters carers help prepare children to be adopted Anamica and Prashan, adopted their son Neel* through us. They had such a positive experience with the foster parents who looked after him before his adoption they asked them to be Neel’s godparents. Learn about the role foster carers play in helping children get ready for adoption.
Around 200 children are waiting to be adopted in Wales, so if you have ever thought of opening your home to a child in care then is a great time to contact Barnardo’s Cymru Adoption and Fostering Services to find out more.
Brenda Farrell, our UK head of fostering and adoption, appeared on BBC Wales News this week to talk about why we need families more than ever to provide loving homes for children in care. Watch her interview at https://bit.ly/3Ywy0sd
We are showcasing Barnardo’s Real Love Rocks Healthy Relationships and Exploitation educational programme at the National Social Care Conference today. Designed for teachers and professionals to help protect children and young people from sexual abuse, exploitation and online harm, it’s available in English and Welsh. Working together we can raise awareness of the different types of abuse children and young people experience today and help safeguard them.

Rydyn ni’n arddangos Real Love Rocks, sef rhaglen addysgol Barnardo's ar Berthnasoedd Iach a Chamfanteisio yn y Gynhadledd Genedlaethol Gofal Cymdeithasol heddiw. Mae wedi cael ei dylunio ar gyfer athrawon a gweithwyr proffesiynol i helpu i amddiffyn plant a phobl ifanc rhag cam-drin rhywiol, cam-fanteisio a niwed ar-lein. Mae ar gael yn Gymraeg a Saesneg. Drwy weithio gyda’n gilydd, gallwn ni godi ymwybyddiaeth o’r gwahanol fathau o gam-drin y mae plant a phobl ifanc yn eu profi heddiw a helpu i’w diogelu.

It is Cardiff ½ marathon this weekend. Best of luck to everyone running on behalf of Barnardo’s, supporting the work we do across Cymru. Thank you, we will be cheering you on!
Mae hanner marathon Caerdydd y penwythnos hwn. Pob lwc i bawb sy’n rhedeg ar ran Barnardo’s, yn cefnogi’r gwaith a wnawn ar hyd a lled Cymru. Diolch, byddwn ni’n eich cefnogi!
Great to be at the event at Welsh Parliament today, it’s vital we discuss how to better support babies, children and young people. Thank you Children in Wales - Plant yng Nghymru and Jane Dodds for the start of a really important conversation.
Daeth bron i 100 o bobl at ei gilydd ym Mangor yr wythnos diwethaf ar gyfer Cynhadledd gyntaf Meddwl Ymlaen i ddathlu llwyddiant yr Arweinwyr Ifanc a’u gwaith diflino a chreadigol i wella cymorth iechyd meddwl i bobl ifanc Gwynedd ac Ynys Môn. Roedd y gynhadledd yn nodi diwedd blwyddyn gyntaf y prosiect gyda llawer mwy o waith cyffrous i ddod.
Mae lleisiau pobl ifanc yn ganolog i’r prosiect Meddwl Ymlaen, gan amlygu pa mor bwysig yw eu bod wrth wraidd penderfyniadau am gymorth iechyd meddwl. Roedd yn wych clywed gan y bobl ifanc hyn yn uniongyrchol wrth iddynt agor y gynhadledd ochr yn ochr â Chyfarwyddwr Gwasanaethau Plant Barnardo’s, Sarah Crawley.
Ymhlith y siaradwyr gwadd eraill oedd Paula Timms, Prif Weithredwr Kidscape, a roddodd gyflwyniad pwerus ar faterion yn ymwneud â bwlio a’i effeithiau; soniodd Rocio Cifuentes, Comisiynydd Plant Cymru, am bwysigrwydd Hawliau Plant; tra bod Nick Elston wedi rhoi araith ysbrydoledig ar rymuso unigolion i oresgyn rhwystrau a dod o hyd i’w llais unigol; rhoddodd Millie Boswell a Sharon Hinchcliffe drosolwg ar y Fframwaith NYTH a sut mae Meddwl Ymlaen yn enghraifft wych o weithrediad ymarferol y fframwaith.
Ar ôl cynhadledd hynod lwyddiannus, rydyn ni’n edrych ymlaen yn fawr at weld beth fydd y bobl ifanc ysbrydoledig hyn a’r tîm gwych o’u cwmpas yn ei wneud nesaf!
Nearly 100 people gathered in Bangor last week for the first Meddwl Ymlaen Conference, which celebrated the achievement of the Young Leaders and their tireless, creative work to improve mental health support for young people across Gwynedd and Anglesey. The conference marked the end of the first year of the project, with much more exciting work to come.
Young people’s voices are central to the Meddwl Ymlaen project, demonstrating the need for them to be at the centre of decisions about mental health support, and so it was brilliant to hear from them directly as they opened the conference alongside Barnardo’s Director of Children’s Services, Sarah Crawley.
Other guest speakers included Paula Timms, CEO Kidscape who gave a powerful presentation on the issues and effects of bullying; Rocio Cifuentes, Children`s Commissioner shared the importance of Children`s Rights; while Nick Elston, gave an inspirational speech on empowering individuals to overcome adversities and find their authentic voice; Millie Boswell and Sharon Hinchcliffe gave an overview on the NEST Framework and how Meddwl Ymlaen/ Mind Our Future is a great example of how the framework should work in practice.
After a hugely successful conference, we can’t wait to see what these inspirational young people and the brilliant team around them will do next!
We think the pupils at Oldcastle Primary School, Bridgend deserve gold stars after collecting up their surplus clothes and making up packages to help the families we support across the county.
It was part of Year 6's sustainability project and the children washed and ironed all the clothes and designed packaging for their donations.
Sara Rowe of our Bridgend services, said: "We have many families struggling to afford clothing at the moment so we know the pupils' packs will be very welcome. What a wonderful way of learning while helping others, thank you!"
Our Youth Forum’s striking graffiti art is to hang at Newport civic centre, reminding politicians to remember the voices of the young in their decision making.
What a wonderful gesture by Newport City Council.
We are very proud of our young people who have been sharing their varied experiences, from being a young carer to living in care.
The aim of the artwork is to give them a voice even when they are not present at meetings. Good to see Newport cabinet members there alongside MSs John Griffiths - Newport East and /MS.
The Youth Forum focuses on specific, child led topics such as healthy relationships, substances, crime and exploitation. They have visited the UK and Welsh parliaments and created a video with Literature Wales
Bydd celf graffiti trawiadol ein Fforwm Ieuenctid yn cael ei arddangos yng nghanolfan ddinesig Casnewydd, gan atgoffa gwleidyddion i gofio lleisiau’r ifanc yn eu penderfyniadau.
Am arwydd gwych o ewyllys da gan Newport City Council.
Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o’n pobl ifanc sydd wedi bod yn rhannu eu profiadau amrywiol – o fod yn ofalwr ifanc i fyw mewn gofal.
Nod y gwaith celf yw rhoi llais i bobl ifanc hyd yn oed pan nad ydynt yn bresennol mewn cyfarfodydd. Roedd yn braf gweld aelodau o gabinet Casnewydd yno ochr yn ochr â’r Aelodau o’r Senedd, John Griffiths - Newport East a /MS.
Mae’r Fforwm Ieuenctid yn canolbwyntio ar bynciau penodol sy’n cael eu harwain gan blant, fel perthnasoedd iach, sylweddau, trosedd a cham-fanteisio. Bu’r Fforwm yn ymweld â seneddau Cymru a’r Deyrnas Unedig, ac mae wedi creu fideo gyda Llenyddiaeth Cymru
An amazing eighteen inches of hair has been cut by the team at urbasba to be donated to Little Lady Locks charity by a woman supported by Barnardo’s. Her donation will be made into wigs and hair pieces for children experiencing hair loss.
Mae menyw a gefnogir gan Barnardo's wedi bod at y tîm yn urbasba i dorri deunaw modfedd o’i gwallt i’w roi i elusen Little Lady Locks. Bydd ei rhodd yn cael ei droi’n wigiau ac yn wallt gosod ar gyfer plant sy’n colli eu gwallt.
