We have written to Senedd Members to highlight the potential benefit to our patients of greater technological innovation in general practice.
All members currently working in general practice should have been emailed a unique link to our 2024 GP Voice Survey.
Each year, RCGP asks its members about their priorities and experiences. The findings allow your College to pitch a powerful message to decision-makers. Earlier this week, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health, Sam Rowlands MS was referencing data from our 2023 survey in a Senedd debate about GP Practices and Funding.
Please fill in this year's survey to help us make an even stronger case for general practice over the next twelve months. If you have not received an email link to the survey please contact [email protected].
Diolch yn fawr.
"We do need to differentiate between a strategy to deliver better patient care at scale and necessity driven transfer of patient lists to practices due to a sustainability crisis in general practice.โ

"I warmly welcome this milestone. E-prescribing would represent a big step forward for general practice. Upon becoming Health Minister, Eluned Morgan emphasised e-prescribing as a priority and we are grateful for her continued drive to deliver this service." -
Dr Rowena Christmas, Chair RCGP Cymru Wales
Today we have launched the electronic prescription service in Wales ๐
This service will enhance patient care by ensuring a safer and more efficient experience for all.
The new service will be rolled out across Wales from January 2024.
"We keep saying 'unprecedented' but actually we can see it coming and I wish there was more in place to mitigate against that worry.
"I'm continually apologising, I'm doing my best but it's still a five-week wait to see me which still feels too long."

What we do
Working with Welsh Assembly Members, Local Health Boards and the Welsh Government, our activities include:
delivering training courses and other educational activities
raising the quality of patient care through quality initiatives and awards, for example, the RCGP Certificates in substance misuse
responding to government consultations and representing GPs and our members in particular, on Welsh Government working groups, including the GP National Specialist Advisory Group (NSAG)
encouraging research in general practice to improve the evidence base for standards and guidance on best practice
Supporting the setting of standards and clinical guidelines for clinical care
supporting members by providing opportunities for doctors to network and share ideas - including the RCGP Wales Annual Conference and with the Wales Mental Health in Primary Care Network (WaMH in PC) which is currently supporting Welsh Government with the implementation of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure
