Walk & Talk counselling is a therapy session in nature, outside, by the water or in the woods.

Walking in nature is great for your mental and physical health, it lowers your anxiety and you feel less stressed, counselling without the constraints of being in an office or inside in a therapy room.

I hope you have had a great weekend so far but try and remember that you can't do everything by yourself.

Sometimes it's the small things, making someone laugh, saying hello or good morning, letting someone out of a turning or holding a door for someone.

It may seem like a small thing to do, but it may make a difference to someone elses day.

We never know what another person is going through in their life, the person that is always smiling and happy may be going through something in their life that no one knows about.

My name is Ian and I am a local qualified and registered mental health counsellor.

Talking therapy is for anyone who’s going through a bad time or has emotional problems they need help with.

Therapy is an incredibly useful it helps with a range of issues, from anxiety, sleep issues,depression and trauma.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their feelings, needs and problems in a safe, structured, confidential setting.

How do you build trust in any relationship work or personal.

Building trust is a daily commitment. Don’t make the mistake of expecting too much too soon. In order to build trust, first take small steps and take on small commitments and then, as trust grows, you will be more at ease with making and accepting bigger commitments. Put trust in, and you will generally get trust in return.

Reliability - be true to your word.
Sincerity - only promise if you intend to do it.
Consistency - do what you say you will everytime.
Competence - be honest if you don't know.
Integrity - do what you believe is right.
Commitment - honour your commitments.

Trust: You cannot have a healthy relationship without it.

But how do we develop trust in the first place?

Can trust that’s been broken be rebuilt?

It takes time to rebuild or develop trust.

Using the five R's to manage your stress levels.

Rethink – pay attention to unhelpful thoughts that your mind is telling you about potential stressful situations and your ability to cope with them.

Reduce – get rid of demands and commitments that waste your time, and keep you from doing what you really need and want to do today.

Relax – devote as much time as you can even if its for a few minutes, to putting your body in a relaxed state through deep breathing, mindful meditation or some other relaxing activity.

Release – Whenever you feel the effects of stress be sure to take a few minutes to release the tension and energy in a healthy way.

Reorganize – do something to make one dimension of your lifestyle (physical, social, environmental etc.) more stress resistant.

One thought at a time
One day at a time
One task at a time

We can all get overwhelmed in situations, or feel we have so much to do. Its okay to ask for help, to delay some things for another day or to say no to extra tasks or favours.

Take some time, practise some mindfulness, take some time out for yourself.

Struggling is the exact opposite of failing. Struggling means trying. Trying does NOT equal failure. It means you're putting in the effort- it means you're giving it what you've got, it means you're doing everything you can to keep going.

The main character was worrying about what was going to happen tomorrow and the days after, instead of focusing on the things they could control that day.

We all spend time worrying about things that may happen instead of focusing on the here and now.

I love it when I find mental health inspiration in the most unexpected places.

While watching the England V Switzerland game, during the penalties one of the commentators said "pressure is for tyres" What a great thought.

The pressure that the players must of been under at that time must of been huge, they looked calm and focused but who knows what is going on inside someone elses head.
