John Lennon said "Life is what happens when you are making other plans" and he was so right. Hypnotherapy can focus our minds where we would prefer it to go so we can get stuff done but enjoy life along the way. Anxiety, stress, insomnia and more…. Is it time to enjoy happiness?

After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our partner gets his or her act together when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice holiday, when we retire.

The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges.

It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.

This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time...and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until winter, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink.... there is no better time than right now to be happy.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Work like you don't need money,

Love like you've never been hurt,

And dance like no one's watching.

Do you lie awake, mind racing and just cannot get to sleep?

I often hear my clients talk about their “racing mind” just at the moment when they should be relaxing into a good night’s sleep.

This is often when we have a very busy day coming up, an important meeting, presentation or something to do, somewhere new to go. Sometime it can be anxiety based "What If?" questions.

If this happens once in a while, we will usually recover the lost sleep and continue. When it becomes a pattern, more and more often, then it can become an established problem and we begin to stress about bedtime, even fear it, and unsurprisingly...have trouble sleeping.

The great news is, at Control & Change, this is often easy to change and usually quicker than you realise.

A painful reminder of how physical health can be directly impacted by mental state. A period of decorating, DIY and birthday party prep caught me in an anxiety-stress loop!

The anxiety-stress loop is a compelling force that manifests physically and emotionally. It begins with a persistent sense of worry or fear that feels almost uncontrollable. This mental strain can scatter our focus, making it difficult to concentrate on the task at hand.

Physically, we might find ourselves in constant tension, perpetually on edge, which drains our energy and leaves us irritable and more prone to accidents.

What has been keeping you stuck for far too long?
Mine was a fear of dogs for 30 years, Shaun’s was a fear of confrontation/anxiety for 40 years and this just in …. free of anxiety & confidence issues after 3 years.

The subconscious part of the mind sees the world slightly different to the conscious.

Imagine if we were up to our knees in mud. The conscious sees the dry ground just a few steps away and recognises the effort in wading through the mud.

The subconscious is simply looking down at our feet with only two options: stay here or wade through. Of the two, staying here seems the easiest.

Sometimes we need to encourage our subconscious mind to see the bigger and slightly longer term picture as we may be very close to finally being free.

7 tips to avoid or reduce anxiety in the springtime:

1. Manage seasonal allergies: If you experience seasonal allergies, talk to your doctor about the best ways to manage your symptoms. This may include taking allergy medication, using nasal sprays, or avoiding certain triggers.

2. Get enough sleep: Adequate sleep is important for managing anxiety. Try to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, and create a calming bedtime routine to help you relax.

3. Practice stress-management techniques: Include stress-management techniques into your routine, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, or mindfulness practices.

4. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise has been shown to reduce anxiety and improve mood. Find an activity you enjoy and aim for 30 mins of physical activity most days of the week.

5. Seek social support: Talking to friends and family about your feelings can help reduce stress and anxiety. Consider joining a support group or talking to a mental health professional for additional support.

Exciting News! Unlocking minds with rapid induction hypnosis.

How was your Monday? Meh? Awesome?
Motivation get's the ball rolling, momentum keeps it going.
So why are so many just “I hate Monday’s?!”

When you don't get the right amount or quality of sleep, your subconscious mind will do a cognitive assessment when you face a challenge or things going wrong around you (to see if it has the resources to take it on). When it doesn't think it does, it fails and uses one of three options:

1) Shutdown - don't take it on, ignore it (back under the duvet!).
2) Meltdown - throw a tantrum, get emotional (to get support from someone close by).
3) Fight or Flight (adrenaline kicks in to get through, more sugar, coffee).

If we have the luxury of staying in bed, or at home and relaxing, or we have others to do the school runs and create that report for us, 1 and 2 do the job and we cope. Most of us will be facing option 3 and will be looking at the clock waiting and surviving till TV and bed!

This is perfectly normal and not harmful in the short term. If it becomes everyday, we will soon find ourselves with anxiety, stress and overwhelm.

Quick tips my clients use:

➡️ Stop and breathe. Yes!
The box breathing method (with counting), just needs half a minute to slow it down! Ask for details.
➡️ Is it mine? Is it now?
When faced with a number of tasks, answer these questions. Two yes’ and go for it, only one, leave it. This can really focus a busy mind.
➡️ Harness the power of the dog (or cat). Huh?
With the joys of the mobile phone and internet, watch a 2 minute funny clip or comedy sketch. It changes the direction of your thoughts and lifts the emotions!
➡️ Keep it simple and celebrate the wins.
You may not get everything done, but every win is a win. One load of washing sorted, one email returned, the report has a title page…..when we get a little momentum, we get motivation.
➡️ Air guitar!
A few bars of your favourite head bopping tune work wonders on the mindset and mood.
Try not to join in to something like “We will rock you” by Queen.

About Me:
After many years of struggling with my own weight, nutrition and related symptoms, I began a journey that led me to lose three stone as well as the related health issues. I had so much more energy and had discovered a lot about nutrition. Friends and family started to ask how I had done it and could I help them? I then decided to train and qualify as a Nutritional Therapist.

A few months after this, I was faced with a particularly stressful period at work and home. I was introduced to the Control System and attended a Control workshop. Coming away after one day, totally relaxed and in control, I made a decision. I went on to study and qualify as a Control Practitioner and Remedial Hypnotist!

During and shortly after this time, I had began to change peoples lives and help them feel in control, balanced and happy again. Taking away stress, fear of heights, anxiety, stopping people from smoking, losing weight and many more.

Finally a great opportunity arose. My holistic approach to client care and local knowledge was partnered with an offer to work with, and at, the Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic. Control and Change was born.


The clinic is conveniently located at the Lordswood Leisure Centre in Chatham, in the heart of the medway towns and close to the M2 junction 3. Easy links from Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Gravesend and Canterbury and a short hop from Junction 6 of the M20 and Blue Bell Hill from Maidstone, Ashford and surrounding areas.

The centre is situated in a quiet country setting overlooking 20 acres of playing fields, with free parking for over 100 cars and disabled access. Regular local buses (166, 167 & 701) stop around half a mile from the Centre.
