Why we love our garden! 🥰
🌳🌷🌹🌻🌼🥀🦋🐌🐛🦗🕷🐜🐝🐞🥀🌼🌻🌹🌷🌳
The importance of outside play in early years can’t be underestimated. Being outside allows children to express themselves freely, children can jump, shout and explore to their hearts content. The sense of freedom playing outdoors brings is fantastic for a child’s development. It gives them the opportunity to explore, be imaginative and wonder at nature, all the while learning new and exciting things.
Our garden gives our children an appreciation of nature and the environment. They can experience nature in their own surroundings and learn about habitats and lifecycles.
We utilise our outdoor space everyday to help develop children in all areas of learning.
Research shows that outdoor learning…
• boosts confidence,
• social skills,
• mental wellbeing,
• communication,
• motivation,
• physical skills,
• knowledge and understanding,
• increases children’s self-esteem and self-confidence,
• encourages the ability to work cooperatively,
• develops social skills, maths skills, motor skills
literacy skills and provides unique sensory experience
…the list of benefits is endless!
Within a safe environment, children are also able to explore personal risk, such as how high to climb, their proximity to spiders, or even the feel of damp leaves and mud on their fingertips.

Most of all being in our garden, outside in the fresh air, is FUN!

Alphabets Nursery provides a secure and homely environment for your child wherein he/she will receive quality care and education. Children aged from birth to 5 years will be encouraged to develop socially, emotionally and educationally.

achievements.

(Open to and including the last working day before Christmas Eve. Closed to and including New Years Day. Re-open the first working day after New Years Day.)
Children can attend all day from 8.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. during which they will be served breakfast, a cooked lunch and tea.
Alternatively, a morning session will run from 8.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. and will include breakfast and lunch.
An afternoon session will run from 1.00 p.m. until 6.00 p.m. and will include tea.
(Children can attend from 7.30 a.m. by arrangement for breakfast club)

We provide meals to suit most dietary requirements.
The children will be provided with a balanced diet.

We are participating in Medway’s Healthy Eating Programme for Childcare Settings, we’ve received accredited training on how to improve the food we provide and encourage children to eat well and make
healthy choices.

The children’s day will consist of a mix of structured play, play through self-selection and free flow play. All areas of development will be addressed through observation and assessment by practitioners. Children aged two to five play together for the majority of the day, which encourages personal and social interaction and development.

We believe that a good relationship between parents/carers and the nursery staff is essential for the overall wellbeing of the child. Alphabets has a closed parent only page available. We use this as a communication tool for promoting certain events, update parents, give hints and tips for activities the children have enjoyed and home learning ideas, to give news, to show photos of activities or special events.

Alphabets Nursery will be fair and non-discriminatory to children, parents and staff. All staff are expected to treat the children with equal concern. Children’s needs arising from race, culture, religion, gender or disability will be sensitively catered for.

‘Children are happy because staff provide a caring and nurturing environment. Children form close attachments with their key person and other staff. This promotes children’s emotional well-being positively.’ - Ofsted 2015

Children’s work is sent home on a regular basis. Should any matters require discussion, parents have access to a member of staff at any time whilst the nursery is open or an appointment with the child’s key person can be arranged.

Children are encouraged to be aware of other peoples needs and that they must behave in a caring manner. An ordered environment is provided that sets out realistic boundaries so that the children are able to acknowledge acceptable limits of behaviour. Bullying, swearing, name-calling and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. A child behaving in this manner will be supported to develop and understanding of positive behaviour.
Parents will be advised of the behaviour of their child in both positive and negative situations when necessary.

‘Partnership with parents and other professionals are well established and effective. This means that children receive the support they require to meet their individual care and learning needs well’ - Ofsted 2015

‘Staff have good knowledge of how to promote the learning and development of children. They plan a range of interesting and motivating activities, both indoors and outdoors, which take account of children’s interests and support their learning needs. as a result, staff prepare children well for their eventual move to school.’ - Ofsted 2015

‘The leadership and management of the nursery is good. Management effectively implements robust procedures for recruitment of new staff to ensure that they are suitable to work with children.’ - Ofsted 2015

If you would like to visit our nursery, we have an open-door policy, so you are able to visit at your convenience. We just request that you avoid our mealtimes, these are 9:00-9:30, 12:00-1:00 and 3:00-3:30

The children have developed their hammering skills! 🔨
Using tools develops hand-eye coordination.
It strengthens their hands, ready for those important writing skills later on.
They learn the importance of safety and following rules and it helps to develop their persistence as they learn to master the skill 🔨
