The pace of work will intensify next week and we will know exactly all the rectification work that is required.
It has been slow progress this year as there was some major hurdles to comes over earlier in the year, however things are now moving forwards, thanks to the landlords Rooke Builders, Riverport Scaffolding, Cambridge building repairs and Gawn Associates
The Trustees and staff thank you for your patience and hopefully will be able to update you more frequently going forward.
Marie has resigned has trustee due to personnel reasons. An update on the swimming pool and a new trustee will follow shortly.
We thank her for her time and effort.

Good evening Members
Itβs been a few weeks since the last update, so I would like to take the time to update members with the latest news. The structural engineers have revisited the pool and are now in the process of drawing up the plans for the repairs to the pool to take place. The Trust hope to have these plans by the end of the month. We are also in contact with builders we hope will be able to carry out the works once they have the plans. So things are moving.
I have shared the post below as once again I would like to thank the landlords Rooke Builders for their continued support and their commitment for the pool to remain open. For members that do not know it was Mr Percy Rooke who funded and converted the old cinema into a swimming pool way back in 1964 so that the people of Chatteris could learn to swim in a heated pool and not the river! I believe it was the first in the area. His children now in their seventies and eighties, along with the Trust continue to support his vision, 60 years on.
As soon as we get anything further updates we will let you know.
Thank you all once again for your patience and words of support.

A busy weekend ahead for The Lilies senior teams! π€©
Good morning members, thank you for your patience and continued support with the Swimming Pool, during this testing time. As you are aware we are still currently closed until repairs can be completed which will hopefully enable us to reopen. This work is structural and both temporary and permanent solutions need to be assessed, costs incurred and Timescales agreed. As you can appreciate this takes time, please continue to be patient with the ladies in the office and the Trustees, who are all keen and motivated to reopen as soon as possible.
In the meantime the office staff are refunding firstly 2024 payments then pro rata 2023.
To assist this process please Email your BACs details to [email protected]
or post through our mailbox. Clearly stating the following:
Full Name of Account
Account No
Sort Code
Name of Bank
Individual, Family or Private Hire
Members who have paid by cash or cheque will receive a cheque .
Please retain your FOB for the time being to reduce Admin time for when we do hopefully reopen.
We are delighted to announce a new Trustee has been appointed Marie Seale (nee Doherty).
The office has temporarily moved to Crown Buildings 18 Market Hill Chatteris and should be fully operational on Wednesday 10th April 2024 when normal office hours resume (9am until midday).
We would like to thank our landlords Rooke Builders for their continued support to helping the pool to continue and also Chatteris Working Menβs Club who assisted us with the new office space.
The Trustees
Good morning members, apologies for the time since the last update. Unfortunately the office ladies are still unable to access the computers to start the refunds. However we hope to have something in place for the end of next week when they will then be able to access the emails and members records and start refunding everyone.
Thank you for your patience in this matter, and we can only apologise for the delay.
The Trustees.
We have now received the engineers report that we were waiting on. Unfortunately it is not good news and a major repair is required, which will take a significant amount of time and money to repair. Therefore unfortunately the swimming pool will now remain closed.
The office staff will begin all season ticket and private hire refunds as soon as they are able.
We thank you all for your patience, and will update you on any future developments.
Going forward though we do still require another trustee. This is an unpaid voluntary position, ideally the said person will be a member or past member of the pool who has the time to help with the running of the trust. Anyone that is interested please get in contact.
Thank you.
The Trustees.
A alternate to swimming
The swimming pool is currently closed and will remain so until further notice. We are waiting for an engineers report on a problem which was not found until late on in the maintenance period. Clearly the Christmas period has delayed things. Once we have the report we will look to rectify the issue. At this time we do not have a time frame to work to, that being said the pool will not be opened until February. Clearly this is not what we or you wanted, but as your aware it is a very old pool and building.
The staff return to work next week, they will deal with January cancellations then and any season ticket enquires or refunds. Please be patient with them, they have no further answers to the question of when we will open or when the problem will be resolved.
Thank you.
The Trustees.
