We are holding an exhibition at Number 11 in the Meadows shopping centre (Chelmsford) for the Art and the Environment students. This launches on Wednesday 17th May (1pm-5pm) and runs until Wednesday 24th May (10am-4pm).
The Landscape Architecture exhibition also opens with a Private View on Wednesday 17th May (5pm-9pm) and is followed by 4 days of public opening (11am-5pm). The exhibition will take place in the Glasshouse on the WUC main campus.

Voting for the WUC Design Degree Show Student Art Competition 2023 has now concluded, and it’s time to announce the winner. Members of the academic and support teams each chose a short list of their favourites, which were then aggregated to find the winning image…
Congratulations to Kayley Passingham with this stunning winning image. Kayley is currently studying BA (Hons) Art and the Environment (Yr3). The image will be used as the basis for all of the promotional graphics produced for the upcoming WUC Design Degree Show 2023.
Special thanks also go to Caitlin Clarke and Claire Jebbitt for their fantastic images.
Art and the Environment students visited Tate Modern in London this week, on a beautiful crisp day. They saw a plethora of artwork over the gallery's multiple floors.
It's great having easy access to all that London has to offer while being based in Writtle and surrounded by so much nature.
This week Art and the Environment students visited London Art Fair, where WUC's Pryle Behrman has curated the Encounters exhibition, to see a huge array of art shown by scores of galleries.
During industry engagement week our Applied General Extended Diploma in Art and Design students took part in a group task called a charrette, an interview technique which is becoming popular in industry. The students were asked to discuss with family and friends what Christmas means to them and how it experiences may differ.
Our students worked very hard during the week, we were also moved to remote learning which proved a challenge but also meant we had the opportunity to approach problems and find ways to solve them.
We invite you to take a look at their virtual exhibition.
Last week Writtle’s art students visited Westminster Abbey in London to explore the artwork within the abbey, especially the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee galleries in the triforium. They also had a unique and rare experience where they got to explore the roof overlooking the Houses of Parliament, and also the crawlspace above the intricate Lady Chapel ceiling.
Writtle’s art students visited London last week to visit exhibitions at a plethora of galleries and were able to see artwork from a host of artists.
The galleries included Pace, Frith Street Gallery, Spruth Magers, Skarstedt and Hauser & Worth and many more.
By visiting so many exhibitions in one day the students were able to compare a wide range of techniques, styles, themes and scales.
