I create a range of contemporary, ceramic tableware and homeware using a range of stoneware clays.
I create a range of contemporary, ceramic tableware using my passion for craftsmanship and design.
Signed, sealed delivered - the beautiful handmade, ceramic tankards are now finished and looking good in their final destination .
Each tankard was thrown on my pottery wheel, handprinted and transferred using a silkscreen technique, handled, glazed and twice fired in an electric kiln. Each tankard is, therefore, completely handmade by me and unique!
Cheers to pottery and craft beer... long may they continue and bring you as much joy as they have been to make 🍻🍺
Watch out, Lewes - we are coming for you!!!!
Look what's about to land this weekend, Saturday 14th September at - bespoke, handthrown and printed, handmade, ceramic tankards!
I designed these with the impressive brewery's family history in mind, which dates back to 1790. I created a traditional tankard shape - with a beautiful soft curve and developed a beautiful light-blue, turquoise glaze in keeping with the brewery's branding.
Super excited to deliver this batch Saturday and meet the team behind one of the oldest independent breweries in Sussex!
Yayyy! And a big cheers from me to you all at brewery.
It's been a delight working with you; designing and making these special, handthrown, and hand-stamped tankards as part of your 10 year birthday celebrations.
Many thanks to everyone who now owns one; I hope it brings you as much joy as it did to me making it!
I would love to see how your Wiper and True tankards are being used, so feel free to tag me into your posts and stories - that's the most rewarding part of the whole process!
Cheers and happy beer-tankard drinking !!
Super excited about this collaboration
📣 Hop Hideout, Leah’s Yard 📣
We’re thrilled to be joining the new community at Leah's Yard in 2024! The grade two-listed courtyard space on Cambridge Street in the heart of the city. It used to house ‘Little Mesters’ industrial workshops, a big part of Sheffield’s heritage and history.
We’ll be one of a number of independent tenants adding to the new history of this wonderful space and we’re excited to move our beer shop and tasting room here. Last year we celebrated our 10th birthday, highlighting the fact we were one of the first ‘drink in’ in the UK. We’re also passionate about , good causes and making beer a welcoming space for everyone. Jules is also founder of Sheffield Beer Week and Indie Beer Feast. 🍺
Hop Hideout has built up a great reputation for quality craft beer, cider, low intervention wine, events, tutored tastings and more. One of the excellent things about our new space in is that it means we can host private events once again (your birthdays, celebrations and more - that we love to be a part of!).
To help us open our new Hop Hideout venue in Leah’s Yard, we’ve just launched a Crowdfunder Project. This Crowdfunder campaign is aimed at rewarding the people that support us in our next steps. The rewards include generous gift cards (which you can use in store once we’re open or on our website for mail order/ click & collect / home delivery - on beer, cider, wine and/or soft drinks), limited artist designed merchandise (by Em Sauter aka Pints and Panels), bespoke ceramic tankards (by Lucy Young Ceramics), beer and cider tastings, exclusive Crowdfunder ‘Supporters Party’ and more. We also hope to fill our space with beer, cider and wine lovers from the start. In return get to spend your money on our 8-strong tap list and chilled 200-wide bottle/can beer, cider, wine and softs selection. Head over to our page via the links below, THANK YOU....

Hello!
I've been pretty busy since my last post developing a brand-new handmade ceramic tankard just for International Women's Collaboration Beer Day 2024!
As a woman potter who makes ceramic tankards for breweries I'd like to celebrate women, from all backgrounds, who work in beer or just love drinking beer by selling these unique, hand-thrown, transfer printed ceramic tankards all made and fired 3 times by me Lucy Young Ceramics!
If you'd like me to make you one, please head over to my website - www.lucyyoungceramics.co.uk where you will see a pop-up order form to fill in to pre-order your tankard.
There are two options; come and join in the festivities with Elusive brewery and Burnt Mill brewery at Five Points Brewery co. in Hackney, London on 9th March and collect your tankard from here where I will have a ceramics stall. Or alternatively, I can post it out to you after the 9th March.
I will be closing pre-orders at midnight on 14/2/24 to allow me time to make your bespoke, handmade tankard!
Thanks for all your support and hope to see you on the 9th March!

I've been experimenting with adding decoration to my work by using a range of commercial graphic-patterned ceramic transfers. I like to break up the surface with a jolt of pattern to catch the eye and give the pots a bit of ooomph. The technique is really cool too as just with a dab of a wet sponge and it's transferred...
Perhaps I'll show you how it's done... keep watching...
Let me know what you think...
Small flower vase with graffiti decoration, glazed in rustic-white, speckled glaze...
New, funky, breakfast-bowls are now available to buy from my website and are guaranteed to cheer you up during these long winter months, well.... I think so!😀
Glazed in either a rustic-speckled white glaze or a heritage sage-green, decorated with ceramic transfer prints. See link in bio for link to website
Espresso mugs for those who like their coffee strong!

My take on the classic Yunomi mug. For those who don't know, a Yunomi mug is a style of Japanese teacup for daily tea drinking. It has a long tradition, evolving into a variety of styles and shapes that are usually cylindrical and without a handle. A Yunomi is ideal for cradling in your hands to savour the warmth and aroma of your drink.
Take a look at my updated website with a range of my new ceramics, online for you to buy.
My latest glaze tests have resulted in a subtle, heritage sage-green glaze and a rustic, speckled white glaze which breaks to create lovely warm, burnt hues on parts of the pots.
The tactile curves of the mug make it lovely to hold, topped up with steaming hot chocolate, coffee or tea to keep you warm during these cold months, who wouldn't want one! 🙃
