Wow. 10 years of Tonic.

I thought it might be nice to share a little about how Tonic came about... For those that aren't aware 🙂

13 years ago - I graduated from Uni with a degree in Geography. I knew I didn't want to go further into studying and do a masters so I decided to try something different, and follow a little spark that was sitting inside of me

I had always dreamt of running my own business; and spent my teens working part-time for . So I went back and retrained in Beauty Therapy - and my mobile beauty business Phoenix Home Spa was born.

The goal was to always have a premises and build a beauty/spa destination and I was lucky enough to stumble across 10 great Norwood street in 2014 and little Tonic was born!

I set about building a space that made all feel welcome, pampered, comfortable no matter who they happened to be.

After 3 successful years, I moved the business to 33 Suffolk parade and really started to grow Tonic and reach more people.

Another 3 years later.... And after some more soul searching and bright ideas, I set my sights on our current location.

I'd like to think, Tonic is now a lot larger than before, but I hope we still have the same welcoming, comfortable environment that I always wanted.

This morning was the *perfect* morning to use my Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Scrub.

After waking up feeling less than lacklustre, 5 minutes later after a luxurious shower and the best exfoliation I can get at home, I'm jumping out the shower with much more energy in a positive frame of mind.

The whole "Revive" range is beautiful, I finished up my revive session with the revive body gel - a lightweight, non sticky hydration for the body.

We understand it can be daunting trying something new. Massage is a very personal treatment you may feel nervous about trying a treatment for the first time, or coming to visit somewhere new even if you have had massage elsewhere.

So I thought it would be helpful to provide a basic guide on what to expect from a treatment - especially for those that haven't experienced one at all, or haven't experienced the Tonic magic as yet.

What should I expect during the massage treatment?
You'll be met in reception by your therapist. They will then take you to your treatment room and talk you through the process of the treatment you have booked. A 60 minute massage is exactly that! We book additional time out surrounding the treatment to ensure you get your full treatment time on the couch.

You'll be asked if you are warm, comfortable and then left in privacy to get onto the couch. Once you're under the warm cosy blankets, your therapist will then start the treatment.

You'll only have one area exposed at one time, and your modesty will be maintained during the whole experience. It's up to you whether you wish to talk throughout your treatment or remain in silence, or a mixture! Your therapist will understand, it's your choice. Your therapist will converse at key moments, to let you know when to turn over, move arms etc

If at any point in your treatment do you feel too hot/cold/uncomfortable/need a tissue/need the toilet please say! We really want you to enjoy your treatment, so please don't feel embarrassed about speaking up.

Unfortunately, overnight (night of 10th January) we have had an attempted break in at the salon (Montpellier street, Cheltenham) I just wanted to let people know, in case you live/work in the area. Please be extra vigilant. Montpellier Association

Whoever attempted to break in, tried to remove some wood in our door, in order to reach the lock.

Luckily they didn't manage it!

We have spent the day: adding in additional CCTV, installing additional locks on front and rear doors, repairing the damage to the door and bulldog security have worked with us for longer term solutions too.

In addition to this, it's worth noting:
- no cash left on premises overnight
- we have a loud, security alarm around the whole of the premises
- the CCTV will capture your face if you even reach the door.
- this has been reported to the police.
