Hello Yoga friends
How did you feel after our gently moving twisting first class of this term?
Did you sense areas of your body waking up and saying 'yes I am here and I like to move?'
This week we'll bring some strength into our practice, exploring the postures for the power sequence: Chair of Heart, Warriors, Crane, Bhima Warrior.
And of course there'll be a bit of floor work too.
See you on the mat with a smile

Chepstow Yoga Space - TUESDAY YOGA AT 11am - A message from Michael...
"Hello Yoga friends,
Many greetings and wishes to you all from Kari and myself.
We enjoyed a couple of quiet weeks together, here and there in Wales.
Taking time to look back at the events and challenges we went through during the past year also connected us with your lives.
We hear about and share a lot of your ups and downs in mind and heart.
*What miracles our lives are...
*What dreams we fly on and what agonies we suffer...
The question comes up:
"And what part does a regular Yoga practice play in my life?"
Stretching - Relaxation - Calmness - Breathing Out - Posture - Letting Go Of Tension - Enjoying Me-Time - and much more...
It's essential to pause, breathe ... and move on.
The AUTUMN TERM is in sight, weekly classes commencing during the first week of September for 8 weeks until half term."

-A Glimpse into our CYS yoga teacher, Michael Cordel's Yoga Journey.
"My knees and shoulders took a lot of abuse playing sports in my teens. Yet overall fitness wasn’t much of an issue until I noticed a gradual decline in my forties.
Simple solution: exercise more regularly. But, for me exercising had become a pain, because it easily upset the knees which in turn meant I couldn’t exercise.
And I felt too proud to ask for help.
With Kari’s help I discovered Yoga. With patience and regularity it helped.
Eventually doctors gave me a diagnosis and Physiotherapy gave me more exercises.
Additionally I took some of my own medicine and used regular Acupuncture treatments.
I am pleased to say that I am fitter now than 10 years ago.
But it took that concerted effort, information and patience.
In my own Acupuncture and Massage practice I saw similar results.
People who made the extra changes (like adapting a diet, exercising more sensibly, relaxing daily, seeking other treatments) got better faster and stayed well.
That’s when we think “that improvement is a miracle.”
I don’t think so; it’s listening to what we need and making a focused effort to achieve it.
At times we underestimate what is possible and believe some improvement is a miracle.
Based on what I have seen I know that our body and mind are THE miracle, and we want to be open to improvement, healing or whatever else we call it."

Yoga this week with Sian Rule Yoga is about the ancient ta***ic movement of energy in the body in figures of 8.
They're also used in Eden Energy Medicine to protect us and to connect different energy systems in the body.
These patterns are deeply healing and are used in traditions throughout the world.
They're used in movements and in the breath.
And to help cool down our system in this heat, we're practising the Sitali Breath.
Please come and join the class for a First Free session - book and timetable is at sianruleyoga.com 🙏
And from October on Wednesday evening there will be a new in-person/zoom class at 6pm.

Have you noticed the full Moon this week?
In Sian Rule Yoga Classes the theme this week is releasing what no longer serves us.
We constantly accumulate stuff through life.
The full moon is an opportunity to let go of the inner stuff that we don't need.
Otherwise, we're full of clutter and toxins.
We move inwardly and mindfully, using the Bee or Bramhari breath, letting stretches go as deeply as we want so energy can move through the joints and excess energy can be released into Mother Earth.
The class finishes with a transformative visualisation of the Full Moon and a relaxation of Bliss ☺️
If you'd like some bliss of your own, have you thought about joining the class for a First Free session?
Message Siân or please go to her website: sianruleyoga.com
You'll be very welcome on Tuesday or Friday mornings 🧘♀️ 💫🧘♀️

Another few opportunities to practice moving into the juiciness of the hips with Lorna Yoga on Monday and Tuesday this week.
Hip openers are often a crowd pleaser in a yoga class because the sense of release and spaciousness when we come out of a hip opening pose can feel otherworldly. The tightness that we experience in the area of our pelvis can be really painful, it can unplug us from the earth and it can be a symptom of and a reason why we are inhibited, unable to enjoy a sense of creativity, sensuality, playfulness and freedom.
So when we dig into that tension in a yoga class, whether it's come about through our lifestyle, genetics or some form of trauma and we begin to release it, the resulting feeling can be intense, even at the time overwhelming, but letting go of that gripping, becoming open and spacious in the area of the pelvis has a profoundly positive affect on our whole being, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Hi, in Sian Rule Yoga classes this week, we're remember the craze of multi-tasking.
How we were meant to be so much more productive if we were doing umpteen things at the same time?
That's been shown not to be true.
We can do it for a while, but we human beings can get burnt out or frazzled or overwhelmed if we keep it up for too long.
This week in yoga, the focus is on the Sixth Limb of Yoga, which is Dharana.
Dharana is concentrating the mind on ONE thing. And one thing only.
It's where mindfulness comes from.
This spontaneously brings us into a state called Pratyahara, which is the Fifth Limb of Yoga.
Pratyahara is where we're not distracted by outside sights, noises, etc.
We can focus our attention on a crystal (as in class), a flower, a leaf, a symbol, a divine object or picture.
Or onto the body or breath, which are the Third and Fourth Limbs of Yoga.
The Limbs all integrate and work together.
To try a class on me, or book your own 121 session, please look at sianruleyoga.com.
New yogis are always welcome! 🧘♀️ ✨️ 😌

Hi Yogis
In Sian Rule Yoga Classes this week twists are the focus, to help the following:
~ strengthen the muscles of the spine, abdomen and rib cage
~ lengthen the same
~ stimulate the internal organs
~ help energy flow along the main nadis (the sanskrit word) or energy channels, along the spine
~ free up the back, chest, shoulders and feel more flexible
They feel great, lying, sitting, kneeling on all fours or standing.
We'll focus on the breath to increase the effects, to get length in the spine and to go towards and release out of the twists.
If you'd like to join us one day, have the first class on the house.
Please book at sianruleyoga.com or get in touch! We'd love to welcome you 🙏
This is what Lorna Yoga is saying about her class this week ....
'Our experience of life is affected by our attitude and our outlook. We often hear that. That we are masters of our destiny, that we manifest our life and I’m aware of it sounding a little woo woo but I’m also aware of how truthful those words are.
I know that if I am feeling insecure in my teaching - I will look for and find the student who isn’t enjoying the class. There may be 15 people in the room, 14 of them are totally in it but my attention will be drawn to the person who is struggling. If I’m feeling self-conscious I will notice the people who are looking at me, unlovable - those people who don’t necessarily have time for me, cynical - those people with questionable motivations. If I am feeling helpless about the state of the world my eyes will be drawn to stories about climate change, articles on injustice, news reports about the devastation of war. We seem to unconsciously look for confirmation about how we are feeling in any given moment.
The beautiful thing about knowing this is that we can make the necessary changes, implement certain practices that will help to shift our perspective, alter our perception and literally change the experience of our life. Yoga is often referred to as a life changing practice and it genuinely can be.
And I am not advocating a state of spiritual bypass where we use our practice as another drug to blot out the difficult things in life, I’m not suggesting we close our eyes to the darker side of life, I am looking to wake up entirely, to widen my gaze and to acknowledge that
‘in the midst of darkness, light persists’.
Yes there is injustice, racism, war, hatred, illness, destruction but there is also love, friendship, compassion, kindness, bravery and radiant health. And when I practice Asana and dig into the physical tension that affects my mental outlook, when I slip into a state of flow that allows me to move with the pulsation of life and when I practice meditation that connects me with a felt sense of pure bliss then everything is the same but my outlook has changed. When I open my eyes, my perspective has shifted, I see 14 students immersed joyfully in their practice, I see people looking at me with love and admiration, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for how many beautiful beings I have in my life, I see humanity as a selfless whole and I view the world through a lens of hope, connection and love.
The only thing that has changed is my perception and changing perception can change the world.
So my yogi friends, for the next 2 weeks of practice (which will be played out over 3 weeks as I am away 29th May until 5th June) let’s change our world, let’s create a state of flow, dig into unwanted tension, tap into a state of bliss and shift our perspective.
