Just a little reminder to our guests and why we have signs up stating 'Cash is King'.

I have a £50 banknote in my pocket, go to a cafe and pay for dinner with it.

The cafe owner then uses the note to pay for the stock from the local fruit and veg shop.

The fruit and veg shop owner then uses the note to pay the farmer.

The farmer will then use the note to pay for some shopping.

After an UNLIMITED number of payments, it will STILL remain a £50 VALUE, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment and the bank has received ZERO from any cash payment transaction made.

BUT

IF I go to a restaurant and pay digitally via Card,
the bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around £1.50
.. and so will be the fee of £1.50 for EACH further payment transaction.

- for the owner of the fruit and veg shop or
- payments of the owner to the farmer,
- or payments of the farmer for his shopping etc.....

Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial £50 will exist at ONLY £5, and the REMAINING £45 has become the PROPERTY of the BANK …
thanks to all of the digital transactions and FEES!

USE it OR LOSE it!

Once it’s gone we won’t get it back!

P.S. We do take card payments too for those who don't carry cash. But there is a cash point on Bridge Street which doesn't charge for withdrawals.

Today’s roast beef at Northgates. Absolutely stunning. Tender and lean!

Last weekend our Sunday roasts SOLD OUT at 5pm! We have slow roasted our beef until it’s falling apart and succulent. At just £14 why would you want to go to all the effort of cooking when we can do it for you?

Our team here at Northgates always try to go above and beyond for our customers. It’s not because we have to..it’s because we want too. We love to see people having a good time in a safe space!!

We have many wonderful customers that have become friends with us and Colin is one of them 😃
So of course we threw him a little birthday bash 🥳
