We already had the Principality of Sealand Royal Family coming down to present the Prince Michael and Princess Mei Cup, I decided that two contact games wasn’t enough, why not throw a flag tournament into the mix as well…?

We’re raising money for Su***de Prevention UK: https://www.spuk.org.uk They help anyone struggling with their mental health or having thoughts of su***de.

Nice and simple, £50 per team, games throughout the day, a grand final, a trophy, a box of freddos and a big jolly up in Popworld Milton Keynes afterwards.

7th & 8th of September 2024, Flag Football returns to Watergate Bay, Newquay, Cornwall…

Again. 😄

Nice and easy, £10 per player, all funds raised go to RNLI.

It’s been a bit quiet while we made some changes, but the first announcement we’ve got is for two games on the 26th of October 2024 at the same place we’ve held games before, Old Grammarians Memorial Sports ground in Wellingborough.

The Princess Mei cup is a Women’s game, with the both teams representing Sealand Royalty in honorary captains Prince Liam and Prince James.

The Prince Michael Cup is for mixed gender teams, again representing Princes Liam and James.

Prince Michael and Princess Mei will present the trophies in the clubhouse after the game.

As usual, if you fancy getting involved, message the page and we’ll get you dropped into the group.

We’ll be supporting Su***de Prevention UK this year, hopefully raising a big chunk of change for them.

So before we get into the usual ‘silliness’ of the Schmyder Cup, here’s what we’re raising money for this year, Magpas Air Ambulance - they flew our boy Josh Jennings to hospital after he had a very scary moment on the field.

They’re a 24/7 air ambulance service, treating around 900 patients in life-threatening emergencies each year.

They receive no government funding whatsoever, relying on donations from the public to continue saving lives.

We’re hoping, through raising money in the Schmyder Cup, we can donate a few quid to help them to keep doing that. ❤️❤️❤️

As everyone gets home from an absolutely monster weekend, there might be mumblings of ‘next year’, but I’ve got a few other bits and pieces to sort out between now and then like the Schmyder Cup in a few weeks!

So it rained. It rained HARD.

Despite this, the final between Flaggin’ Ball Z and Guardians of the Flagaxy was a corker, with Cardiff Bay Coy…. I mean, The Guardians coming out on top right at the death to win 36-33.

There’ll no doubt be plenty of photos to come, but for now everyone’s going to be drying off and driving home.

N.B. I know I looked like a chonky wizard in my robie but I was cosy, warm and dry, so I didn’t care. 😐👍🏻

Watergate Bay beach flag tournament day one, just gotta clear some space, get it set up and play some football!

RNLI, WAX Watergate Bay, Lifting the Lid,

This time tomorrow the Schmyder Superstars, an elite flag football team from all over the UK, will be waking up and heading down to Watergate Bay to set up the pitch for the 2023 Beach Flag Tournament, raising money for the RNLI., the UK’s only beach flag tournament. (Because no one else is crazy enough to put one on in the UK)

These elite athletes, actual superstars of American Football, are that good they’ve never actually won a game at one of these things, knowing they’ve achieved all they want to achieve, they pass, catch, run and tackle with mixed results.

Will this be the year they finally get a W? Who knows.

Will it stay sunny this weekend? We doubt it.

Will we raise a few quid for a good cause? 100%.

If you’re free and want to come and watch the superstars make fools of themselves (again) first game of the tournament is at 10am, last is at 2pm and the tournament on Saturday and Sunday, with us going up to our friends WAX Watergate Bay for a big feed and drinks afterward. 😊

We’ll have to call a cut off on applicants by 8pm tonight (2nd of July) otherwise we’ll be over full for players and have to look at something silly like a three/ four team tournament and bring in like a Canadian and Australian team.

(No, because we’ve tried that and it didn’t work…)

Team USA vs Team Europe, we’ll be raising money for Magpas Air Ambulance- who helped Sealand Seahawk Josh Jennings earlier this year, we want to thank them for their excellent work and want to support them so they can carry on saving lives in the future.

If you’re new to the Schmyder Cup, the emphasis is more on fun and celebrations with a game of American Football going on in the background.

If you want to play, you must have at least one season of BAFA football under your belt so we know you’re safe and can protect yourself.

Cost: £70 for newbies so we can get you your own jersey from our friends at Ridge Sports or £30 for returning players, £10 for coaches.

Well, we were full as of this morning but I had to go to work so couldn’t post up.

Yes, it’s 225 days away, but this one should fill up pretty quickly as Mike has checked the B*F* calendar this time to make sure there’s no clashes… 🤦🏼‍♂️

16th and 17th of September: It’s Watergate Bay Beach Bowl 3!

Same set up as last year, games on the Saturday and Sunday, with food at Wax after a quick splash in the Atlantic ocean, raising a nice chunk of change for the RNLI.

(Hopefully we don’t get told off by them this year- stay between the flags boys and girls!)

All the fun, games, bbq food, cold beers, ocean AND THEN £500 prize money for the winners, thanks to the amazing folk at Wax supporting the charitable cause. ❤️

2022- what a year.

In amongst a little 350 mile move to Cornwall, a new job and organising those pesky Seahawks going on international duty, we still managed to put on a bit of a party for everyone- let the players, coaches and staff enjoy American Football, meet new people and celebrate big plays whether it’s yours or the oppositions.

Not only that, but also raise a few quid for charity- bet you forgot about that but didn’t ya?

£500 raised for the RNLI and £845 raised for lifting the lid.

So, before everyone dives face first into a big crimbo feed tomorrow, a big thanks to everyone that got involved this year. ❤️

Keep looking out for each other and for the love of f**k, enjoy football. It’s an amazing sport full of absolutely incredible people- the folk on the other sidelines have jobs, families and can be some of the most interesting chats you’ll ever have, maybe wait till the final whistle, then go over and say hello.

We’ll do more events next year if the demand is there, but for now, big loves and thanks again. ❤️❤️❤️
