It began in 1984. Sister Bee, Uncle Ernie’s wife, mixed the original rum punch recipe in their kitchen. It would be carried lovingly down the hill to Shoal Bay, on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, to be served at Uncle Ernie’s Beach Bar with a smile.
Alongside the signature rum punch, the original recipe has also been used to create a sparkling rum cocktail, inspired by memories of Caribbean life. Both have been blended with tropical fruits and spices synonymous with Anguilla.
Our main aim for this brief was to create a series of designs that not only stand out from the crowd, but reflect the heritage and way of life of the Caribbean.

Standing out from its competitors, We designed the ‘king’ of Pignoletto’s, creating a label that quite literally radiates quality as well as easily grabbing consumers eyes.
The Pignoletto grape itself is considered the “king of the Colli Bolognese wine zone”. Due to this, we wanted to create something that stood out above the rest, using a black and gold colour scheme that shined bright.

Another transformation project we were delighted to orchestrate was for the Jacktone Ranch range.
Sold exclusively in Tesco, this Kingsland Drinks wine consists of two varieties, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon.
Kingsland wanted the bottle to have new presence, whilst still staying faithful to the wine’s provenance. So for the project we chose to highlight Jacktone Ranch’s specific California origins.

Local restauranteur Angelo Esposito wanted a brand to packaging some of his customer’s favourites, allowing them to take them into their own home.
We created a narrative based on Angelo’s food journey. Taught to cook by his father and his father before him, “Da Padre” (From my father) paid homage to his family roots, as well as geographic references on the pack. We developed a visual root informed by the local area, Calabritto, and traditional hand-drawn Italian type to give these products a true representation of their origin.

Another new wine exclusive to Tesco, Barossa Drive was the latest project which Kingsland Drinks asked Masters of Brands to help position in the market.
Like any other top tier wine, this premium shiraz ultimately performs well due its supreme flavour and taste. But also like any other top tier wine, consumers aren’t going to be able to form an opinion on it without a stand-out label that makes them want to take it off the shelf in the first place.
This is what we set about creating. A label which would halt shoppers and encourage them to purchase. Something which not only looked great, but also leaned on the wine’s history and heritage to confirm its status as a premium brand.
As a new product for Kingsland Drinks, and being sold exclusively in Tesco, Hidden Hill needed both a new brand and packaging design with a difference.
This, of course, is a speciality of ours. So, wanting to keep the design simple, we took inspiration from the region the wine is created – Clare Valley.
Crazy Cocco was born from the idea of making healthier snack choices much more exciting and tastier, and these chips are no exception! Baked to perfection, these crunchy coconut chips are cram-packed full of flavour and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt. Naturally high in fibre with no nasty artificially flavours or ingredients, they’re the perfect snack for on the go – and better yet, they’re gluten and dairy-free!
Reflecting this new messaging we’ve created; we wanted the product design to be just as exciting. To start the process, we crafted custom, playful lettering for the logo, to appear just as bold and crazy as the name suggests. Using sharp cuts of shapes throughout the packaging helped strengthen the label by separating key elements and messaging. The palette of fresh and vibrant colours used were meticulously selected, not only to catch the consumers eye, but to stimulate the appetite. This is because the product was to be located at the impulse buy section at till points in the supermarkets.
Kingsland Drinks are no strangers to the Masters of Brands. They turned to us once again, this time to help redevelop their existing zinfandel rosé brand, 3 Pebble Bay.
Originating from Lodi Wine County in California, the area is noted for delivering fruit-driven wines; well-structured reds and lively refreshing whites.
In repositioning the wine, Kingsland’s brief to us was simple: make it stand-out and increase sales. So the team got started on a design that would be as effective as it was eye-catching. Because this was to be made available on-trade, we decided to push it as far as possible, so the design would really stand out from the competition, and to customers when approaching the bar from distance.
Eurocompany Srl is an Italian company famed for its healthy, organic and high-quality food.
Whilst they already had a range of nuts and dried fruits, they spotted an opportunity to produce premium dried fruits – pear, mulberry, peach, strawberry varieties, to be sold in the impulse purchase sections of stores.
Giving us the name Essenza – the brief was to create a vogue product.
These are individual packets of the very best dried fruit, and as a premium range, the brand and packaging had to echo all the natural essence of the product. And that’s exactly what we focused on. Marrying the fruit’s purity with high-end quality.
Forged by those long-forgotten at sea, Black Powder Rum has been created to ignite an old oath of loyalty, sworn at sea. As the tale goes, shipmates would sprinkle some gun powder (once known as black powder) into their drinks before toasting, as a way to seal a vow or show loyalty to a rebellion, with the great sea as the undying witness.
Now, reborn as a way to show respect to these forgotten souls, this oath will take on a different meaning. One forged amongst friends in loyalty and respect. So raise your glass, for this is a new wave of rum.
