Hello, we’re back!

If I’m totally honest I have been balking at the thought of writing this post. Summer has brought much soul-searching and number crunching for us.

We are at a point where we need to make some changes at Chloe’s, although so many of you have been coming, and we have so loved welcoming you. We are having to pivot a bit in order to balance the books and keep my work-life balance in check. So here’s a heads-up that this may be the first of a couple of changes we make this Autumn.

For the next three weeks we will be running our menu a little differently, the same amazing local produce and my style of cooking but now as a set menu. For those of you who like to pop in for a drink and a snack we still have you covered with a concise little selection. We will also be open Thursday and Friday nights only.

My goal has always been for Chloe’s to be affordable local spot but these are precarious times for hospitality so I’m trying to find some imaginative ways to bolster our business and sure it up for the future. This is one way we can continue to do that and keep it a lovely, community-based place (there are others and we’ll keep on trying until we get there!).

The couple of pictures on this post illustrate next week’s menu, a gorgeous Thai-inspired feast including mega local sweetcorn from our lovely friends at Church Lane, gorgeous veg from the mega-crew at Kitchen Garden and beautifully raised beef from Pudlicote Farm. This menu can be made suitable to GF, VE and VEG and there’s details the snacks we’re aiming to produce too.

As ever you can book on the website, the link is in the bio.

We can’t wait to see all our lovely friends and customers. Hope to see you soon!

Slightly dry post here.

I am selling my Hobart mixer, bought a couple of years ago from the lovely folk at (and refurbed by Brook) to make mountains of cinnamon buns. We just don’t use it enough to warrant the space.

Single phase, good working order (though full disclosure will struggle with over 5kg stiff dough). All three attachments, bowl and handy stand on wheels. £500.

Would love it to go to another local business, so please do share with anyone you think might need one.

Thanks!

More lines and discounts added to our bin end sale!

Lots of local apple juice at £3.50 a bottle, and wines with up to 50% off!

Last chance this Thursday and Friday. Hope to see you.❤️

Our last ‘Wine of the Week’ before our summer closure, and it’s my time to shine!

I love this English Pet Nat from

First tried by Caz and I at it brings together grapes from long-forgotten vineyards and some obscure grape varieties into a delicious summery light and slightly fruity fizz, which is a great for a celebration. Tom and I enjoyed a bottle on our 10th wedding anniversary and loved it!

It’s available this week by the glass and the bottle so we can share the love!

We’re open Thursday and Friday this week, 12-10 then Chloe’s will be closed until the first week in September. There will be a couple of wonderful pop-up events in August from our lovely friends -all the info is on the previous post.

Hope to see you!

Here’s my lovely partner Tom!

As well as being a washer-upper and helper extraordinaire at Chloe’s he’s also playing this weekends with his fantastic band (2pm,Saturday) and later on for a song or two with lovely friends and excellent not sure on time).

Tom has decided to run round the festival site for two hours on Sunday morning to raise funds for Riverside. It’s an excellent, free local festival that he was involved in organising as a kid and we hope that many more local young people will continue to be inspired by the music, art, community spirit and general joy that brings to Charlbury and our surrounding community.

https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tomrunsforriverside is the just giving page, if you happen to have a few quid to spare to support this excellent festival. Hope to see you there!

Afternoon! A further celebration of our first year with a bin end sale featuring wines, gins and soft drinks: all with 20% off their retail price. Some real gems in this batch so do check them out and stock up for Summer! We’ll be adding lines to this sale this week and next.

Also, this week’s menu is up! Check out the third snap. This is our penultimate week before we close for August, we are filling up but do have space, so do get in touch if you’d like to come for dinner (details of how to book are in the bio above).

Chloe’s is One!

In amongst the joyous chaos of the Flea Market today I completely missed the opportunity to acknowledge that today marks the first birthday of Chloe’s! So lovely to see so many of you today and thanks so much for your ongoing support of our little eatery.

At a time where 60% of food businesses don’t make it to this milestone i feel really grateful that we’ve made it this far and that I’m shaping a business that doesn’t comply to industry norms and dances to its own drum.

Thanks, as ever to the amazing Chloe’s team past and present who are all wonders: .p Florrie and Eric.

More celebration to come next week!

This week’s menu!

Owing to the changeable weather at the minute I’ve put a few warmer dishes on this weeks menu including some delicious taco’s featuring some new seasonings and sauces, some delicious beef (grass fed and free range, are in the process of converting to organic) from one of our closest farms and the lovely roast carrot dish is on again this week.

As ever, booking information is in our bio, open 12-10 on Thursday and Friday. Hope to see you!

Last week the Chloe’s team and our lovely customers were some of the first lucky few to try .j.jowett new Hidcote cheese. is one of our closest cheese producers set in idyllic Chedworth (a beautiful village near Northleach).

Hidcote is a beautiful lactic set sheep’s cheese with a delicate wrinkled rind, similar to a Perail cheese from South West France. We can confirm it’s absolutely delicious!

Last week we paired it with lots of beautiful new seasons green vegetables and little lemon. This week the last couple are on the puds with some gently macerated local strawberries.

Do follow on their journey: they are currently up scaling to enable them to use all the milk produced on the farm. Which incidentally is all grass-fed, free range and as-organic (translated as non-certified organic). It is beautiful cheese and we can’t wait to bring you more later in the year!

This week’s menu is up! See the second picture for more info. Loads of delicious seasonal produce we’d love you to experience.

But first, although she’s off on holiday our lovely Kate has left us with a stinking ‘Wine of the Week!’

‘Frecciabomb’ is an elegant, italian pet nat. Naturally fermented in bottle, it’s unfined, unfiltered with flavours of cranberries and pomegranate. A perfect summery fizz!

To join us this week all the booking info is in our bio. We’d love to see you.

What a lovely, fortuitous meeting of growers and cookers at this morning! Along with the amazing crew from this is lovely Tom who grows for our friends and neighbours at beautiful We share a weekly harvest from KGP with The Bull-but it’s rare that all our paths collide like this.

Mondays can be a big round-robin collection day for me, and today was no exception.

Starting my morning with cheese maker extraordinaire .j.jowett at the idyllic I had a look at their impressive new storage and maturation space which will certainly double their cheese production and mean that they’re able to use all the milk produced by the grass-fed as-organic herds on the farm. We can’t wait to bring you more!

And on that, Chloe’s customers will be some of the first to try their new Hidcote cheese (a delicate lactic set sheep’s cheese) More info later this week!

I also popped into to pick up our order from lovely Rachel. Silverscale land farm fish in a truly revolutionary way, meaning they are free of lice, Antibiotics and pesticides, it is truly a passion project.

Now that I’m about a year in with Chloe’s, something that’s really apparent is the people I love to work with most are these maverick, wildly driven friends who are consumed by their passion for making better food. Not featured today, but very much part of this scenario are and

People sometimes ask how I manage to clock up a 50-60 hour week when we’re only open a couple of days a week. It’s simply a passion to make it all as good as it can be, and part of that is sometimes spending half a day in the car whizzing around the Cotswolds collecting delicious things from these amazing, hard working friends!

Wishing you all a good start to your week from me and the crew at Chloe’s. # # #

Behold! It’s the pav of dreams!

On the counter today from 12.

This one is a brown sugar meringue that comes with vanilla cream, poached rhubarb, strawberries, cherries with optional einkorn sprinkles and spiced nut and seed brittle.

As a little aside I freeze all the egg whites from our aioli’s and mayo: when there’s enough it’s pavlova week!

A mix of Beautiful shots from our lovely friend Ros and the Chloe’s crew.

This week’s menu!

So much delicious, fresh summer produce this week.

A summer salad that I first made when cooking for in Oxford. A delicious mix of organic chicken, cooling sweet melon, elderflower and tarragon.

A lovely plate of fresh, cool bursts, broad bean tapenade, pest and new potatoes.

A Greek-inspired selection of Horta (garlic/lemon greens, Skordalia (potatoes with almonds and olive oil) and Ezme (a hot and cooling mix of red pepper, tomatoes, cucumber and chilli).

Such an amazing year for strawberries -there’s such a glut (and they’re so delicious) we’ve put them on twice!

As ever booking info is in the bio. Look forward to seeing you!

This week we thought we’d highlight all of our lovely wines currently available for less than £15 a bottle. These are all great tasting, great value wines and are a mix of red, white, rose and sweet. Some local, some biodynamic, some organic but all pretty delicious by our reckoning!

We’ll have some open this week so do pop in for a taste. Buy any 6 bottles of these (or any of our wines) and receive a 5% discount.

Not sure where to start? Our Chloe’s crew are always happy to help and give wine recommendations.

Hope to see you Thursday or Friday from 12!

Wow! Here we are elated and so happy after collecting our award for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the awards last night!

A MASSIVE thank you to all of you who voted, and to my amazing team who work so hard to make our space so welcoming: you are all such a joy to spend time with. Thanks to Katherine for such a fun night and for providing a much-needed focal point for Oxfords’s hospitality industry.

I was also heartened to see that two young female chefs had won the and it made me think about my first proper cooking job. and took on myself and my lovely friend when we were just starting out and was in it’s first year. Women in kitchens are still the minority, but even more so then. I learnt so much there about hospitality, seasonality and cooking. It’s no surprise Chloe’s operates a constantly changing seasonal menu: it’s how I learnt to cook in a professional kitchen. So thank you both for setting me on the right course and so amazing that 15 years later we’re still all at it.❤️❤️❤️

So wonderful to catch-up with some old friends too: (Congratulations!), (Congratulations also!) and

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, hospitality is tougher than ever to navigate and it’s wonderful to see some great places flourishing!

P.S. The last snap is from 15 years ago at the Maggie with a blurry me in the background after we’d got our Bib Gourmand!

14/05/2024

Hooray! This week’s menu is up. It’s Asparagus all round. We are truly in the throes of the hungry gap, but we do have an abundance of the green stuff: chard, leeks and salad as well as asparagus. Also, have harvested us some beautifully sweet little carrots to sit on our ‘Grand Aioli’, a bountiful platter of bits with three aioli’s (perhaps not one for a first date, but delicious none-the-less). Also last week’s favourite, the smashing smashed cucumbers are back, so fresh and delicious! We also have our cantucci (little biscotti) and sweet wine back by demand.

Bookings can now be made by our website (link in the bio), if you’re a larger group please drop us aline to book: [email protected]

Hope to see you!
