Well done to all, and to those not selected - your time will come!
Yesterday was one of those days when you arrive home, mentally exhausted but inspired.
First, three members of Oxfordshire Short Mat Bowling Association (two from Charlbury Bowls Club) attended Chipping Norton School and delivered two one-hour sessions of Short Mat Bowling to 24 year 7s and 24 year 8s, to be repeated next week. By half term we will have reached 96 young people who were enthusiastic and responsive.
Then, a rush back to Charlbury, a quick cup of tea, before the monthly hour and a half 'Bowled Over' sessions of Short Mat bowls for members of the local community with memory problems, such as dementia. Five Charlbury members, and our Friends from Dementia Friends Charlbury hosted nine participants. The pleasure all receive is immense.

It is 30 months since we started our 'Bowled Over' sessions for people with memory problems, like dementia, and their carers/family/friends. With support from Denentia Friends Charlbury the coaches and helpers at the club encourage and supervise the visitors who always enjoy the monthly sessions. Our bowlers enjoy our various community outreach projects taking our sport to many for whom it may otherwise pass them by.
