Just one week to go, and we'll be attending the Partnership Awards with the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust for the innovative and groundbreaking Dorset Health Village project.

About the Dorset Health Village Project:
In April 2021, facing a backlog of more than 110,000 pandemic-delayed outpatient appointments, UHD began a ground-breaking project to open a remote outpatient assessment clinic in a department store. As part of the trust’s innovative and ambitious ‘ThinkBIG’ initiative to help them tackle their backlog of outpatient appointments, clinically-led plans were drawn up to transform what was an empty shop floor into 1,600 square metres of partitioned clinical space, taking the trust’s services into the heart of the community. The Dorset Health Village opened on 20 December 2021, with 98% of patients that have attended the facility rating the experience as ‘good’ or ‘very good’.

South Tees launches trust-wide digital patient flow management tech following successful proof-of-concept 15/03/2023

One year ago... South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust launched a trust-wide roll-out of the Intouch Platform following a successful proof-of-concept project.

A spokesperson at South Tees said: “After a relatively short pilot programme using Flow Manager across we have seen improvements in clinic and performance, and a better for our .

“Staff can view the status of each patient, including if they have arrived and checked-in or if they are late, if they have been called to be seen, and when their appointment has started.

“They can plan, manage and update the entire patient journey through Flow Manager which integrates with our EPR and has helped improve care coordination across and deliver significant operational efficiencies.”

First birthday for The Christie at Macclesfield 22/02/2023

The Christie's ÂŁ26m cancer centre in Macclesfield has marked its first anniversary this month.

Funded through ÂŁ23m from The Christie charity, The Christie at Macclesfield has transformed cancer care for NHS patients, providing a total of over 32,000 appointments in its first 12 months.

Intouch with Health supported the launch of the cancer centre by supplying digital patient flow solutions. This PAS-integrated technology enables staff to view the status of each patient in real-time - including if they have arrived and checked-in or if they are late, if they have been called to be seen, and if the appointment has started.

Using free-standing digital kiosks, patients can self-check-in, or they can attend the reception area if they prefer. Using the self-check-in kiosks, patients can avoid any queues and help reduce time spent ‘checking-in’ for their appointment. Once the patient has checked in for their appointment using the kiosks or the reception area, the Flow Manager dashboard is automatically and immediately updated, alerting all staff to the patient's arrival. Using Intouch with Health’s Calling solution, patients can then be digitally called forward to see the clinician, when the clinician is ready to see them.

Has it been a week already? Last Thursday, we were at the Awards with the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Integrated Care System teams, as the Dorset Health Village project was nominated in the Performance Recovery category - and picked up the High Commendation award!

The Dorset Health Village is a highly ambitious and innovative approach to tackling the post-pandemic elective backlog in Dorset. Intouch with Health was asked to join the project ahead of the trust’s initial design and scope session, which would see the trust and the ICS transform the top floor of a department store into a remote assessment clinic in the heart of the community.

The project has been very successful, making meaningful and immediate impacts in reducing the backlog whilst delivering an excellent experience for patients using the remote clinic. For example, Dermatology has nearly tripled its pre-pandemic capacity, now seeing up to 96 patients in a 3-hour morning clinic (compared to the previous average of 33 patients per clinic), and 98% of patients rate the experience as ‘good’ or ‘very good’.

The Dorset teams invited our very own Pete Beaumont along to the awards, in recognition of all of the hard work Pete has put into the project himself, along with the wider Intouch with Health and VitalHub UK teams.

New Royal Liverpool University Hospital opens with digital patient flow 15/11/2022

Digital patient flow technology will play a key role in managing outpatient appointments at the recently opened new Royal Liverpool University Hospital, which is part of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The hospital, which opened in October 2022, has also launched 15 digital patient self-check-in kiosks located throughout its main outpatient atrium, and 20 digital calling screens in the outpatient waiting areas, that are used to notify patients to proceed to a specific clinic room for their appointment.

Jo Pepper, Deputy Head of Patient Access Services at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Flow Manager allows us to monitor our patients; where they are, and where they're going. We’re also working towards launching Intouch with Health’s Activity Manager module, which will allow staff to move patients to and from different locations across outpatients."

Just over 3 weeks ago, some of the Intouch with Health team were lucky enough to be onsite at the New Royal Liverpool Hospital, ahead of its phased opening throughout October.

The state-of-the-art new hospital is now fully open. The hospital’s design promotes efficiency and accessibility, with physical barriers avoided where possible. Intouch with Health’s digital technology is used throughout the department to help manage the flow of patients during their appointment journey, including express check-in kiosks and digital calling screens.

Congratulations to everyone at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on the successful move to the new Royal. We're very proud to be part of this project, and sure this will have a hugely positive impact on the local community.

About the Project:
The Dorset Health Village project was a innovative and ambitious vision to transform the top floor of a department store into an , to support the Trust in tackling a backlog of more than 110,000 pandemic-delayed appointments across Dorset.

The Dorset Health Village is currently within Phase One of the Trust’s approach, operating at 56% utilisation, and when full clinic use is achieved, it is estimated that around 1,300 outpatients per week will pass through its doors.

When interviewed by the BBC during her visit to the Dorset Health Village, Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of NHS England, commented “This is a remarkable facility. I can see from walking around here the energy of the staff who have been able to not only bring their services here, and run them in a way that is offering more access more conveniently but also to innovate, and provide something which is truly is world-class care.”

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has launched Intouch with Health's dashboard to manage outpatient flow at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.

The trust has launched Flow Manager, alongside other patient flow solutions within the Intouch Platform, including Room & Resource Manager, Kiosk & Mobile Check-in, Patient Calling and eOutcomes.

Flow Manager is now being used to manage outpatient flow across six of the eight outpatient departments at the Friarage, including Main Outpatients; Paediatrics Outpatients; Ophthalmology Outpatients; Maternity & Gynaecology Outpatients; Respiratory Outpatients and the Scott Suite.

North Bristol renews relationship with Intouch following ten years of succes 25/08/2022

North Bristol NHS Trust has renewed its contract with Intouch with Health following more than ten years of successful partnership.

Staff and patients at the Trust have been using digital patient flow technology from Intouch with Health for over a decade via the Flow Manager dashboard. The Trust also uses Intouch with Health’s patient Check-in and patient Calling modules.

Greg Patel-Harris, Project Manager from North Bristol NHS Trust says “The Intouch with Health check-in kiosks have improved patient flow into the hospital as well as the patient experience and patient safety when attending their outpatient appointments. It gives patients the flexibility of choosing when and how to check in.”
