Colchester Zoo has always cared passionately about the world’s threatened species, and created its charity Action for the Wild to assist projects worldwide.

Action for the Wild became Colchester Zoo's charitable arm in 2004 providing both financial and technical assistance to conservation projects and communities worldwide. Conservation for Capuchins! Colchester Zoo’s Action for the Wild has donated £4,500 to the Yellow-breasted Capuchin Monkey Conservation Programme to help the start the second phase of this incredible project! The funding will contribute towards the gathering of information about the ecological and behavioural needs of Buffy-headed capuchins to developed conservation strategies to avoid this species’ extinction. Since 2014, Colchester Zoo Action for the Wild, has supported the Red Panda Network, collaborating with other European zoos to help sponsor forest guardians to monitor and protect red pandas in Nepal. Our donation this year has helped contribute towards further training and support of the 15 forest guardians.
