Google Ads call tracking, how does it work?

There are two main forms of call tracking inside Google Ads. Ideally, you'd want to use both.

Calls from ads: This method will allow you to track conversions for call events taking place directly on the Google SERP. This can be a click to a call asset on your search ad, or even calls to a call ad.

Calls from website: This method, though more difficult to set up, will be able to provide you with accurate tracking to the number of calls you receive from the phone number on your website. By using a dynamic phone number insertion, Google is able to replace the number on your site with another local number that redirects straight to you, allowing call metrics to be tracked, without the end customer being any the wiser.

Both methods allow you to specify how long a call should be before it can be considered a conversion, so you won't get a misrepresented conversion number.
You can also track phone calls for up to 60 days after a user has seen your ad, just in case they note your number down and give you a call on a later date!

Google has been pausing inactive keywords inside of Google Ads accounts!

A few months ago, Google announced that keywords would be paused after 13 months of inactivity. We were unsure if it'd take 13 months to see our first inactive keywords paused, or if this would come into effect sooner - it seems like these changes are now taking place!

If your ads account relies on a large number of low-serving keywords, your ad performance may be effected by this change in the long run.

Although keywords will only be paused after not serving for 13 months, if you have a lower budget campaign, or if budget is often spread thin this could cause problems!

Smaller businesses often believe that Google Ads isn't for them, though there are are still ways you can target ads to potential customers in your local area.

If you're a brick and mortar store, or have a small service area, Google Ads has precise location targeting. With this useful feature, you can use a small radius around your business, or select the postcodes you'd like to advertise in. In addition to location targeting, if you ensure you're using localised words in your ad copy, you can improve your ads' relevance, and achieve a healthy click through rate on your ads!

Alternatively, if you're a serviced-based business, contractor or sole trader, you can run ads with Google Local Service Ads. Unlike Google Ads running on a PPC model (Pay Per Click), Google Local Service ads operate on a pay-per-lead model, where you only pay when a valid potential customer contacts you through an ad.

Do you know about Google's ""Search Partners""?

If you run ads with Google Ads, you have the option to run ads on just the Google network, or you can add the Search Partners network too. This will allow your ads to be shown on a multitude of other websites, including Gmail, X, Ask.com, Youtube and many more.

There are many reasons you may want to turn this option off, it can often be more expensive to convert a user through Search Partners, and your brand may not want to advertise on websites such as X.

Though most prefer the Google Ads web client, there are certain situations where Ads Editor can save us time. If you have a lot of pages on your website, it can sometimes be tricky to choose the right landing page for your ads. Below, are 4 tips to help improve your ads performance by choosing the right landing page!

1. Don’t have a page suited for ads? You can make a new one!! Although your website may be information heavy, there might not actually be a page suited for PPC ads. By making a new landing page only including essential service information such as pricing, testimonials and images you can drive a user to fill in your contact form or give you a call!

2. It's always best to keep your users on one page. The more a user has to navigate through your website to find what they want, the more likely they are to click off. Avoid links to other pages on your site to keep your users where you want them!

3. Does the page load fast? Page speeds more often than not affect a whole website, but large images or plugins could slow down your landing page's load speed. Ensure your website’s pages load fast to ensure users don't get bored while waiting to see your page or it's content!

4. People tend to be cautious when they see a poorly-designed website, so ensuring your landing page (at least) looks professional can significantly boost client trust and credibility.

Bounce Rate 🎾 - what is it and what does it mean?

Bounce Rate is calculated surprisingly easily - by dividing all sessions by single page sessions. But what does this metric actually tell you?

A high bounce rate can indicate that visitors aren’t finding what they’re looking for on your site, or that your content isn’t engaging enough. A low bounce rate suggests that visitors are exploring multiple pages, which is a good sign of user engagement.
